I get what you mean, @william-matson.
We don't want you to have this experience since the pop-up advertisement may slow you down in running your business. I recommend clicking the X or No, thanks option to stop pop-ups for the time being.
Another option is to turn on your browser's pop-up blocker. This stops pop-up windows from appearing. Here's how:
For Safari browser:
Depending on the browser you're using, you can also search online for more instructions on how to stop block pop-ups.
I also encourage you to send your feedback to our Product Development team. They can review your request and possibly add the capability to remove it in future updates.

I do wish the answer was that easy, Jovychris! QBO plants these promotional announcements in the interface page, not in conventional pop-ups, and clicking "Hide" minimizes them only temporarily... the next time you log in they are presented to you again.
If QBO was not subscription-based, it would make sense to continually upsell. But I assume that Intuit is not losing money on those of us who don't want extra services. I'm sure I that there must be a way to opt out of these daily ads.
Thanks for following up with the Community, william-matson.
I can certainly understand how an ability to turn off promotional advertisements permanently could be useful and have submitted a suggestion about it as of today.
You can also submit your own feature requests while signed in.
Here's how:
Your feedback's definitely valuable to Intuit. It will be reviewed by our Product Development team and considered in future updates. You can stay up-to-date with the latest news about your product by reviewing Intuit's Product Updates webpage.
As a workaround, you can use the X or No, thanks options mentioned in Jovychris_A's post to temporarily hide promotional advertisements.
I'll be here to help if there's any questions. Have an awesome day!

I continually select QB Desktop and search results are only for QB Online!!
Why!?
How do I stop these pop ups in QB Desktop???!!!
I can help disable the pop-up message in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), @TSOSNJ.
The pop-up notifications are designed to suggest and guide you on how to improve your QuickBooks experience. I understand that the ads may affect your navigation. We can disable this in the Preferences.

@Maybelle_S is this same or similar disabling functionality available for QBO?
The QBO pop-up messages for new products and services are excessive.
Hello there, @Monica1223. Thank you for joining the Community topic. It is my goal to enlighten you about the QuickBooks Online pop up notifications.
The QuickBooks Desktop disabling functionality of pop up messages is not the same as QuickBooks Online. These commercials are intended to advise and propose ways to improve your QBO experience. We are currently unable to completely block the ads from displaying. You may, however, select the X or No, thanks to buttons to prevent pop-ups will keep from showing up again.

True, this is a very good way to prevent pop-ups or marketing messages from bothering you for the rest of the day.
However, they will be back tomorrow!
THIS IS TIME CONSUMING.....KINDLY TAKE OFF YOUR "ENJOY 50% OFF FOR THE NEXT 3 MONTHS"
I KNOW YOU CAN. ... IT IS VERY FURSTRATING- MAKES LIFE HARD....
I spend so much of my day clicking little "x" and shutting off the repeated pop-ups. After so many years of QBO, I do not need constat tutorials popping up explaining to me how to find something or where something has moved. Stop the popups and the info banners. If we need to find something we know how to search!
