Hello @bookkeeper93,

Thank you for posting here in the Community. I'm here to help you fix the issue with creating a budget in QuickBooks Online.

To provide an accurate resolution, I want to know what happens when you scroll through the budget. Any additional information will help us provide a much more precise solution to the unusual behavior.

Ideally, you should be able to navigate freely without tabbing through all the spots. For now, you can perform some browser troubleshooting to isolate and fix the issue.

The browser's stored cache data affects the performance of QuickBooks. It can cause unusual behavior like the one you're having when entering budgets.

I'd suggest you begin by accessing your account using a private browser. It doesn't store data in the cache when accessing our website.

Thus, it's a great way to isolate browser-related issues. If you're using Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge, press the CTRL + Shift + shortcut on your keyboard. For Safari, hit Command + Shift + N. Press CTRL + Shift + if you're using Google Chrome.

From there, go back and create a budget again. If it works, please clear your browser's cache to have a clean slate for the feature to function efficiently.

If private browsing doesn't work, I suggest you use another supported web engine. It will help determine the cause of the problem and ensure you get the most secure experience with the program.

Also, did you know instead of starting from scratch, you can create a copy of an existing budget? I've attached an article you can use to jumpstart your new budget by using last year's data in QuickBooks: Create budgets in QuickBooks Online.

Hit me up if you have more concerns about entering budgets. I'm always here to help. Take care always.

Having issues with creating a budget; system won't allow me to scroll through the budget as i edit. I have to tab through all the spots anyone else seen this?

Previously - I was able to scroll.   As of today - I can't scroll in when looking at a budget.  There is no verticle scroll bar on the right side of the screen.  I can tab thru - but I can't move back up.  I tried just using the mouse wheel - that is doing nothing.  I have double checked my monitor settings and my zoom settings.  My monitor is set to QB recommendations and my zoom is at 100% - so nothing zoomed in or out.

I was able to see the vert bar ONCE when I double clicked on the tab bar area and minimized the window - but I can't get it to come back now.

Any solutions would be quite helpful as this is a lengthy budget and tabbing just isn't going to work.

I used to be able to scroll up and down the budget - but I can't anymore.  I only go in quarterly so I haven't been in since May.  My monitor settings are set to QB recommendations and Chrome is not zoomed in or out.

There is no verticle scroll bar at all on the right hand side.

Let's rectify your concern about managing budgets in QuickBooks Online (QBO), loreen.

In QuickBooks, you should be able to move around without having to cycle through each area of the application. At this time, we can perform troubleshooting steps that help address unusual behavior in QBO. This unexpected behavior is not limited to button malfunctionality or incorrect display of data.

To start, we can access your company file using a private window. A private window is a helpful tool for troubleshooting browser-related difficulties as it won't preserve any history. The following are the keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

After accessing your budget, it is recommended to clear your browser's cache or cookies to avoid similar issues in the future. Alternatively, opting for one of the browsers that are supported can also be a wise decision.

If the same issue persists, I recommend contacting our Technical Support Team so they can thoroughly examine your file and provide fixes in no time. Our phone support can check your account via a shared screen to determine the leading cause in a secure setting.

I'll keep this thread open if you need additional assistance with creating budgets or any QuickBooks transactions. The Community always has your back. Take care!

Thank you for the swift reply!  I restarted my laptop and that seems to have fixed my scrolling issue!  Thank you again!
