How can I change the date of an invoice (backdate the invoice) on QB 2013 for Mac?

I would like to know how to backdate an invoice? I caught a few invoices that hadn't been entered for 2013 so created them with the date of service of October 12, 2013. However, QB is showing the invoice date as today's date in my reporting, which means that my income reports are showing the income for 2014 instead of 2013. This is messing up my reporting and is incorrect as the invoice was generated (by another program) and paid in October, 2013.

One would think that it's as simple as clicking on the date in the report to change it but when I get to the editing screen for the invoice, the 10/12/13 date appears, not the date the invoice was created. Therefore, there is no way for me to update the invoice creation date that I can find.

Can anyone help me?

In your screenshot, you're showing the date the item was performed or sold as October  2013.  The date of service has nothing to do with the date of invoice... other than that the invoice date has to be after it. ;-)

The top right of your Invoice form shows the invoice date... you have 1/11/14 there... and need to change it to the intended 2013 date.  The date appears to the left of the Invoice number on the screen.  Just modify that date and save.

How can I change the date of an invoice (backdate the invoice) on QB 2013 for Mac?

Ah! Thanks for the reminder that the Date of Service is indicated in the invoice body with the actual Invoice date being in the header area. I had customized my invoice template years ago and had removed the Invoice date from that template (I use a different program to send invoices these days, only using QB for general business accounting). Once I modified my customized template to include the Invoice date, I could of course edit it. Thanks for the prompt and helpful reply, MontanaKarl!

You're welcome!  And thanks for the heads-up to other users who find this topic that fields like the Invoice Date might be hidden.  :-)
