Hello there, @mark49.
The option to default the sort order on the Invoices page is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Online.
I can see how it would be beneficial to your company to sort the invoices into descending order and set it to default. In the meantime, the only option we have right now is to sort the Due Date or Invoice number manually into descending order everytime you'll go to the Invoices page.
I want to let you know that we're taking note of your feedback and suggestions to improve the experience we're providing.
Don't hesitate to let me know if you have other questions with the invoices page. I'll be here to help you.
I am aware of how to sort it manually, and that is what I do.
Please add the feature to set the default sort. My preference would be show open invoices first, and then sort the invoices by descending due date.
I think almost everyone would prefer the sort I just described. Customization really isn't required - I would be happy if there were just two modes: classic and smart (smart would be what I described above).

Hello there, @mark49.
Please allow me to join the thread and help share a little more information about sorting invoices on the Invoice page.
Yes, as mentioned by my colleague Mark_R, there isn't an option to set the default order of invoices on the Invoice page. However, you have the option to sort the invoices manually by clicking on the Sort icon beside Invoice or Due Date.
I want to ensure customers like you are having the best possible experience while working with QuickBooks. I'll also take note with this so I'll be able to pass along this the information here on my end.
