How can i completely erase my customer list, and start fresh ?

You are only allowed to inactive any List (e.g Customer List) in QBO. If your account is less than 60 days old, consider to purge your QBO account completely to start fresh.

Otherwise, open a new QBO account

Welcome to the Community, @xconcrete.

I'm here to show you how to completely remove all of your Customers from your Customer List.

Before we begin, I'd like to advise you that there's not a way to permanently delete a Customer. We'll have to make them Inactive, but this will pull them away when you create new transactions. Here's how to make your Customers Inactive in one go:

  1. Go to the Sales tab in the left-hand menu, then select the Customers section.
  2. Mark the box next to Customer/Project/Company. This will highlight all of your Customers on the list.
  3. Press on Batch actions drop-down menu at the top of the list and select Make inactive. You may see some warning messages if you created transactions with a Customer. You can reach out to your accountant for the best advice for these actions due to the possibility of affecting your books.

That's all there's to it! If you like to see what Customers you've made Inactive in the future, then you can click on the small Gear icon at the top-right of the list and mark the checkbox Include inactive.

If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate and reach back out to me! I'm always here to help. Have a nice day!

How can I bulk make active? All of my customers were bulk made inactive and I don’t want to manually one by one make them active.

I can help you with reactivating your inactive customers in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @Mluedke.

The feature to reactivate those inactive customers is currently unavailable. You'll need to do it one-by-one.

Here are the steps:

  1. Go to the Sales menu and proceed to the Customers tab.
  2. Click the Settings ⚙ icon above the list. Then select the Include inactive checkbox.
  3. Look for the inactive customer on the list.
  4. In the Action column, select Make active.

Refer to this article for more information about adding, editing, deleting, or merging customers: : Add and manage customers in QuickBooks Online

That would be a great addition to the current features that we have, so I’ll take note of it. I invite you to provide input to our developers so that this feature can be added to future updates. Rest assured, I'll do the same on my end.

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Feedback.
  2. Provide your product suggestion.
  3. Click on Next to submit feedback.

You can check out this article for more information about providing feedback to make the program better: How do I submit feedback?.

Let me know if there's anything else that I can help with your customers. I'm always here to help. Have a wonderful day!
