Hello, @moonshot. It's great to have a new face in the Community.
While you're able to manually update info that's been exported, you can change the product name after you export the data.
I can leave feedback to our Product Development Team. They're always creating new, easy to use tools for the future.
If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to reach back out. Have a safe weekend!
Yes, please share the feedback with the dev team. The ability to add 'Category' as an extra column, separate from 'Product/Service Name' would be ideal.
Thanks for your reply.
I second the addition of this feature! I am trying to export my product list into a label designer and I don't want the category in front of my product name . . . so, I have to manually delete the category on every label I create. Ugh.
Thanks for improving QB Online!
I need this too!!! can't believe it's not an option.
Is it possible to export the product list, including a column for the Product Categories?
It is inconceivable that this feature is not available. This is forcing me to search for a replacement to Quickbooks Online.

I can see how the benefit of being able to export the product list including a column for the product categories would aid you in running the business with QuickBooks Online (QBO), @1938CDB. That's why I'm here to share a few details about this.
For the time being, it isn't possible to export the product list that includes a column for the product categories. We take customer suggestions as opportunities to improve the various features within our products. Therefore, I would encourage you to send suggestions or product recommendations.
Your valuable feedback will be forwarded and reviewed by our Product Development team to help improve your experience while using the program. Here's how:
I've attached screenshots below that show the first four steps.
Also, to further guide you in managing the growth of your business and transactions using QBO, I'd recommend checking out this article: QuickBooks Help Articles.
On top of that, I'd also recommend visiting this page to keep you updated with the latest software improvements and enhancements with QBO: Customer Feedback for QuickBooks Online.
I'm all ears if you have other concerns about creating and customizing invoices in QBO. You can drop a comment below, and I'll gladly help. Take care, and I wish you continued success, @1938CDB.
This needs to be completed asap. I need to import thousands of part numbers into an ERP system and will need to edit each one to separate the category in excel.
Thanks for joining the thread, MonarchMFG.
I understand the need to implement this feature as soon as possible. I just wanted to let you know that we have a procedure to follow.
In the meantime, you can manually edit and separate each category while this feature isn't available yet. Also, I encourage you to send your product suggestions. Rest assured, we value each of our customers' suggestions and look forward to adding this functionality in future product updates. You can follow my colleague Rea M's instructions above to send feedback.

Is there still no option to run a product report without including the category before the product/service tab?
When I run a transaction report to see how many products I have sold, I don't want to include the category....
All I see in my report is Product/Service........... Category: Product Name
I need to export Product/Service..........Product Name
I would not have included categories in each of these products if I knew they couldn't be exported without that data...
I hear you, @userjcrabtree.
I'm here to help share insights about generating transaction reports in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
The option to customize and generate transaction reports showing the details of the product or service used without including the category column is unavailable. For now, we may need to export your report to a new Excel file and remove the column from there.
Kindly read and use this article to learn more about generating a report using an excel file: Export Reports to Excel from QuickBooks Online.
While I am unable to determine when such a feature like this is added to the program, I recommend getting in touch and letting our product developers know about this by sending a request via feedback. I'll show you how.
On that note, I'm including our Customer Feedback for QuickBooks Online page to track the status of your request and get the latest updates from our developer team. Updates such as how the recent enhancement made to QBO helps our business owners, like you.
It'll always be my pleasure to help if you've got other questions aside from generating transaction reports in QuickBooks. Use the Reply button and leave your comment below so that I, @JonpriL, can lend a helping hand. Stay safe!

This is crazy. The export does not provide clean data that can be grouped, sorted, or filtered.
I completely agree this is complete and total BS. I'm paying for a child subpar service that gives me the "simple" solution and only using the payroll solution so I can have a decent filing cost for my contractors 1x a year for almost 100$ just to have the mess of a discussing export. I feel for everyone selling products as we have productized services so even dealing with 100 items still SUCKS. Also, quick tip if you have chase business ditch the 5$ a head charge from the fee and go chase for the ACH at least that charge $2.50 to save a little seeing as we can't get the most simple requests. I feel like this is the Clickup of Accounting.
