How can I get general ledgers imported with monthly historical balances in Quickbooks Online?

Hello there, customer.

Importing your general ledger with monthly historical balances on QuickBooks Online (QBO) is possible. Let me share some details on how to do so. Firstly, we need to upload the transactions to QBO. You can follow these steps on how to:

  1. Go to Transactions, then Bank transactions.
  2. On the Link account dropdown, select Upload from file.
  3. After that, choose between Drag and drop or select file to select the file you download from the bank, then hit Continue.
  4. In the QuickBooks account dropdown, choose the account you want to upload the transaction into, then click Continue.
  5. Select the transactions you want to import, then hit Continue.
  6. Click Yes.
  7. If you choose to accept the transaction, select Done.

Once done uploading, we can categorize them so they'll show in your General Ledger in QBO. You can follow these steps on how to do this.

  1. Download the latest bank and credit card transactions.
  2. Review and categorize downloaded transactions.

For reference, you can visit this article: Categorize online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Also, you can use a third-party app to import your general ledger to QBO. To do so, here's how:

  1. Go to Apps.
  2. Select Find apps.
  3. Find the appropriate app in the search field or use the Browse categories to locate one.

If you wish to consider matching your bank and credit card account, you can visit this article: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.
