How can I print a Chart of Accounts with account numbers included?

Hello, @bvchief-comcast-. Welcome to the Community space. I understand the importance of printing your chart of accounts that includes your account number.

I'll share a few simple steps that can help. The account numbers feature is off by default. Here’s how to turn it on.

  1. Go to Settings and select Account and Settings.
  2. Select the Advanced tab.
  3. Select Edit in the Chart of Accounts section.
  4. Turn on Enable account numbers. If you want account numbers to show in reports and transactions, select Show account numbers.
  5. Select Save and then Done.

To print the Chart of Accounts:

  1. Go to the Report and search the Account list.
  2. Select Switch to classic view
  3. In the upper right, locate & click the box labeled PRINT.
  4.

I'll provide an article if you need tips on how to customize your accounts in QuickBooks: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/accounting/chart-accounts/

If you are trying to print a COA and using the "Account List" report,  you will need to "Switch to Classic View".  QBO has destroyed the Account List report by removing the option to have Account Numbers.  The above "advice" from a QBO expert is only useful if you do not have account numbers turned on in QBO.  If you already have account numbers turned on and are trying to run the report, you have to switch to classic view.  I ask that if you are inquiring about being able to run the Account List report with account numbers, that you provide frequent feedback to QBO by either posting here or clicking the gear and providing feedback.  Not that they listen a whole lot, but at least on the Trx detail report they finally removed the collapsed view after they destroyed the classic report there.  We have to advocate as they are making changes to reports and forcing everyone to try to use them at a certain point in time (of which the "classic view" will be removed).  Good Luck - hope you were able to accomplish what you needed without too much trouble.
