How can I remove deposit # generated by QB

Good evening -

I've been searching for help in trying to remove the Reference # and Deposit # that seems to be automatically generated by QB when I add a transaction from Banking.  Example: if you look a the top left of the BANK DEPOSIT window, it will show Bank Deposit #.  All I can find is how to delete a deposit, which is not what I need.

It's been driving me crazy because everything has a reference # of 0.  I don't need it and want it removed.

Can anyone help?  Thanks so much!

How can I remove deposit # generated by QB

I appreciate you searching for relevant information to use bank deposit according to your preferences, @Mary C. I’ll share clarification on how reference no. works in QuickBooks Online.

Any transaction generated by a bank can’t be modified in the system. Since the data comes from your banking institution, we’re unable to change or delete the Deposit Reference number at the top. The bank feed provides the detail Wire, similar to a Wired transfer transaction.

However, we can enable the Custom transaction numbers if you want to update or change the number. With this, you’ll be able to input the unique number or character sequence that you want to utilize for your forms.

Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Account and Settings.
  3. Click the Sales button, and then navigate to Sales form content section.
  4. Turn on the Custom transaction numbers option.
  5. Press on Save and then Done.2.png
