How can I sort the customer list by customer type? When viewing the customer list the only view choice seems to be alphabetical. I want to view the list by customer type

Hi there, @saucegoddess.

We know that having this feature will greatly save your time. Although, the option to sort out customer lists by customer type isn't available in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

However, we can export your customer list to Excel file and sort it out by customer type so we can view them alphabetically. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Invoicing menu and select Customers.
  2. Click the Gear icon and check the box for Customer Type.
  3. Select the Export to Excel button.
  4. Once imported to Excel, highlight the Customer Type column then click the Sort & Filter icon.

In case you need to view the list of customers for a specific customer type, you can run the Customer Contact List report. Just go to Reports and search for Customer Contact List. Once in the report, click Customize and select Filter. Then, click All for the Customer drop-down and select the customer type under the Customer Type.

If there's anything else I can do for you, please let me know. I'll be around to help.

This would be a very useful feature, even if I can just easily find customers who haven't been assigned a type yet.

You can send feedback to our engineers to request the addition of this feature, @Monster Fight Club. I'm here to guide you how.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), below are the steps you can perform to send a product request:

  1. Navigate to the Gear icon at the top.
  2. Then, choose Feedback.
  3. Type your comments or product suggestions. Example: Need an option to sort customer lists by type.
  4. Once done, select Next to submit feedback.

For more details about the process, feel free to open this article: How do I submit feedback?. It also includes the website you can visit to track the feature requests. From there, you can also add votes to some requests submitted by other users.

You'll want to personalize your sales forms to enhance your business' communications. You can do it by utilizing the Custom Form Styles feature in QBO.

If you have any other QuickBooks-related concerns, don't hesitate to post again here. I'd be glad to assist you once more. Take care always.
