How can I use auto-pay invoices for a VARIABLE amount? I bill my clients hourly; some weeks, the invoice is $500 others, it is $2,000. How can I use the auto-pay feature?

Besides Upwork.com, I haven't found any platform that offers this feature.
It seems QuickBooks only offers autopay for a FIXED price(i.e. you charge precisely $299 every single month). Autopay does not work for VARIABLE prices - when the amount charged per month may change on a month-to-month basis, which is the case for hourly workers. I imagine there are many in my situation post-covid.

Welcome to the Community, Andrew. Let me share information about automatic payments in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

The system offers automatic payments once you have QuickBooks Payments. At this time, you can only set up the autopay feature for full amounts. Using autopay for variable amounts is currently not available. However, you can always look for a third-party application that supports the feature.

To learn more about setting up automatic payments, check out this link: Set up Autopay for recurring invoices in QuickBooks Online.

I'm sure I am not alone in looking for variable amount auto-pay invoicing, especially due to covid and a surge of freelancers.

1.) Is this currently in QuickBooks system as a feature request? If not, how can we add it?

2.) You mentioned 3rd party application; could you please be specific, I have scoured the internet and can't seem to find this.

I appreciate your immediate response, @andrew.

Let's go add a feature request to help improve your experience using QuickBooks Online (QBO). I'll also guide you on where you can find a third-party application that best suits your business needs.

I can see how the benefit of being able to use auto-pay invoices for a variable amount would aid you in managing your income transactions with QBO. With this, I would encourage you to send suggestions or product recommendations. We take them as opportunities to improve the various features of our products.

Your valuable feedback will be forwarded and reviewed by our Product Development team to help improve your experience while using the program. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Type in your recommendation in the Share your feedback field.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

On the other hand, although we can't specify a third-party application, you'll want to visit our QuickBooks App Store. From there, you can find the right one that supports auto-pay for a variable amount that fits your business.

Also, you may want to check out one of our Help pages as your reference in organizing your invoices and payment transactions using QBO: Invoices and payments help for QuickBooks Online.

On top of that, I'd also recommend visiting this page to keep you updated with the latest software improvements and enhancements with QBO: Customer Feedback for QuickBooks Online.

I'm all ears if you have other feature concerns or questions about managing invoices and payments in QBO. You can drop a comment below, and I'll gladly help. Take care, and I wish you continued success, @andrew.
