Thank you for posting your concern in the Community, alabamarolltide.

I'll make sure that you can attach a snapped receipt to a transaction.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Transactions menu. If you're on an Android phone or tablet, select the menu ☰ icon and then Transactions.
  2. Find and select the transaction you want to attach the receipt to.
  3. Select browse or Attach receipt.
  4. Select an image and then select Save.

I've also added this article if you have further questions on how to capture and categorize expense receipts and bills in QuickBooks Online.

Feel free to respond to this post. I'm always here to help.

How do I attached a "snapped" receipt to a debit card expense when it shows up electronically for "review".

I am asking how I attached a receipt taken with IPhone with the QB app when I review the transaction on PC laptop.

Hello @alabamarolltide,

Let me walk you through the steps on how you can review and attach a captured receipt to your expenses.

To start with, you'll have to email your receipts first to QuickBooks before you can review and attached them to your expenses. Let me show you how.

  1. Go to Transactions.
  2. Select Receipts.
  3. Click Customize email.
  4. Create and claim a customized email address. Most suggestions end with @qbodocs.com.
  5. Select Customize email.
  6. Click Confirm.

From here, you can forward your receipts after capturing them by following the steps outlined in this article: Forward images of receipts to QuickBooks Online.

Once done, you can go ahead and review your receipts. You can do so by selecting the captured receipts and clicking Review under the Receipts tab.

In the same manner, here's an article you can read to learn more about how you can review and categorize receipts: Categorize, review, or match receipts in QuickBooks Online.

On top of that, I've also included this reference for a compilation of articles you can use while working with us: Banking with QuickBooks Online.

If you have any other questions, please let me know in the comments below. I'll be here to lend a hand.

so..... the receipt snap function on the QB app will not work for this. What is the use of the receipts snap function on the app good for?

Hello there, alabamarolltide.

I appreciate you for trying out the steps above and sharing the results with us. You can also use the QBO mobile app for iOS and Android to capture and upload receipt and bills from your phone.

Here's how:

  1. Open the app and tap the Menu ≡ icon.
  2. Tap Receipt snap.
  3. Tap the Receipt camera icon and snap a photo of your receipt.
  4. Tap Use this photo, then Done.

Once done, QuickBooks starts a transaction for you based on the captured info. All you have to do is categorize it.

You may also want to learn on how to manage imported receipts in QBO.

If you have other questions, you can always go back to his thread.

Do people actually read the entire question before posting a reply as a solution? Seems not.

Just figured this out myself today. If the bank account that the debit card is linked to is also linked to QB, wait for the system to pull in those expense transactions. Many times the system will automatically match the receipt to the expense pulled from the bank roll.

If the receipt does not automatically link, you can go to Transactions --> Receipts to review the receipt and create an expense from the receipt. You must fill out the Payment Account, Date, and Amount fields, and then when you click Save and Continue it will prompt you to search for any corresponding expenses from the bank roll that the receipt might be tied to. Just search for the corresponding transaction, select it and click save.
