How do I change an existing expense item to other expenses?

Is this the same procedure for changing an incorrectly entered transaction from an expense to a payment from an equity account?

Let me guide you on how to change an expense transaction to payment from an equity account, pinkman4949.

If you're referring to changing an expense transaction to a payment transaction, you can delete the transaction and recreate it as payment. To do this you can follow the steps below.

  1. Go Expenses on the left menu.
  2. Locate for the transaction.
  3. Under the Action column, click the drop-down arrow and select Delete.

Once done, record a payment for your bill. Just make sure to select the correct category. You'll also want to enter the transaction directly into your Chart of Account. Here's how:

  1. Click Accounting on the left menu.
  2. Go to the Chart of Accounts tab.
  3. Click the drop-down arrow below the Date.
  4. Select the transaction that you want to enter and make sure to select the correct account.
  5. Click Save.

For your reference, you can add and match online bank transactions with what you entered in QuickBooks Online.
