Ooooo because quickbooks doesnt have anything else that varies from state to state.
Straight lazy and actively not listening to the people who use the software.
Following this thread over the last few years has actually been quite entertaining, in a twisted way. Every few months some QB admin / bot replies with some BS answer why this isn't fixed, how we can use a 3rd party app, blah blah blah. Then comes the customer reaction, threats to go to a different platform, etc., inevitably rinse and repeat. I predict sometime around groundhog day for the next BS admin response.
It's true. Every time I get an alert that there was comment on this thread, I read it and move a little closer to dumping QB. Eventually, like others....I won't reply, and that's because like them, I'll have moved on to that "third party" app 100% too. This is my reminder today to check out https://www.honeybook.com/
That doesn't solve the problem at all. I want my customers to have an option to purchase with a credit card or payment service like PayPal but have to pay a convenience fee for this service OR pay via a check or other means that do not incur an additional charge so they an save money at that point of purchase. Not every transaction is a few dollars. We aren't all selling cups of coffee. Some of our customers may be paying a $5,000 or $10,000 invoice or more! Those 3% charges levied on the business owners are a big loss and not providing that option is just taking money from us, your customers. We shouldn't have to shrug our shoulders and say "oh well." when the solution is obvious and QB absolutely has the resources to make it happen....they just choose not to. I suspect because they are in cahoots with Credit Card companies. Get with the times QB! Quick Books certainly has the resources to offer a drop down menu that allows the user to choose the state they are doing business in. From there, if legal in their state, the option to add a payment convenience fee should be available. Or better yet, don't worry about it QB, it's none of your concern...why not let YOUR customers decide if regionally they have the opportunity to add a payment surcharge. Just make the option available. If I have to turn to a third party to get this done...then I'll just turn to a third party that offers everything you do PLUS what I need to do in this case. I have no desire to incorporate two accounting programs. Time to get with the times QB or get left behind.
hahaha.. 100%. Such garbage from QB. But Don’t worry, they will be quick to change the menu system again, or update the invoice page to make it look different… Functions the same, but looks different. Stupido!!
This is NOT an answer. What if you email them an invoice and they decide to pay by check? Is it up to them to deduct the surcharge and sales tax and guess the correct number?
For the love of God, just add the few lines of code, every other accounting software has done this and have not had an issue. Maybe QuickBooks should hire a developer that can handle this, thoughts?
every other accounting software has done this and have not had an issue.
Which one? Please only name apps in the same class as QBO.
Which 3rd party app is the best for processing credit cards?
Thanks for checking in with us, lheisey.
You'll want to look for a third-party app for processing credit cards, check out this link for a list of QuickBooks-compatible apps: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/app/apps/home/. We can also do it in QBO by following the steps below:
To assist you in managing your account and growing your business with QBO, I recommend visiting one of our support websites: QuickBooks Help Articles. It includes topics about account management, banking, and expenses, to name a few.
Feel free to get back to me here in the Community space if you need further assistance with recording payments you make to your credit cards. You can also post here again if you have any additional QuickBooks-related concerns. It'll be my pleasure to cater to them again. Stay safe, and have a nice day!
That doesn't help me. I'm looking for a 3rd party processer that can automatically charge our customers a processing fee when they use a credit card. QBO doesn't offer that, which seems antiquated and extremely costly to businesses when we have to do a workaround to pass on those fees.
Quickvooks could care less. This has been an issue that would be an easy fix and yet instead of trying to invest in their product and help their customers they play the "dumb" and "workaround" game. Its ridculous and will catch up to them. So sad. And if anyone at Quickbooks or Intuit cares enough to read this post....its about time you guys did something. For real. This is so stupid and so many levels. This should have been fixed 15 years ago
Are you B2B or B2C?
Check out PayorCRM. PayorCRM can sync with QB as well as add a surcharge when paying by card automatically
Does it come with a new accounting system? lol
B2C
It has been 4 years and Quickbook "Engineers" still cannot figure out how to add a Credit Card Processing fee to the invoices is beyond believe. Maybe Quickbooks should be investigating getting some better software engineers instead.
I found a product called Biller Genie. This integrates with QB, and you can use a 3rd party payment processor. Your invoices will go from QB to Biller Genie and then to the client. If the client chooses to pay via CC, they are charged the fee you want to charge. If they pick EFT the rates can be as low a 0.5% not 1%.
Hi Monica,
can you please request for feature ticket to be created?
when I see clover
this feature would automatically add the fee to the invoices without having to key in the amount. The benefit where that of the customer decided to pay by check they were able to do so and the invoice would show the correct amount and of the clicked to pay with credit card the system automatically calculated the fee and added it to the invoice for them to see and pay.
this would facilitate the payment process since you only send one invoice and the customer does not have to ask you to turn the credit card payment feature when they want to pay with a card.
Hello there, Affinitycleaners.
The feature to calculate credit card processing fees automatically for an invoice is a great idea to help manage invoices efficiently. Therefore, I recommend sending feedback directly to our product development team. Your suggestions will be considered for future updates to ensure the product meets different business needs. Here's how:
In the meantime, you can create a service fee item and manually add it to the invoice to charge your customers accordingly.
Moreover, you might want to scan these resources to have a guide when manually entering customer payments and personalizing sales forms:
We're just a click away if you have additional questions when adding fees to an invoice or other related concerns in QuickBooks Online. We're always available to offer further assistance.
From what I have been reading, people have been asking for this function for a long time. QuickBooks doesn't seem to take this suggestion into consideration.
That's QBO's response to everything. I had made this suggestion nearly 2 years ago and just adding a line item on an invoice doesn't help. The point is to have it automatically calculate if a person wants to pay by credit card. Right now we have CC payment option off because I have to calculate the fee first, add it to the invoice and ask the customer for their CC information so I can charge their card. The Gear icon is equivelant to the garbage can. We are obviously not the only customer who needs this option but QBO does nothing about it but make sure they collect their own fees.
There is no need to add a customers credit card processing fee on an invoice. All fees that are charged by a credit card, bank, Quickbooks, or any other fees incurred by a business come off of your taxes at the end of the year. By charging your customers card processing fees, you are double dipping and charging more for your services than what you are stating
I don't get this obsession with charging a credit card fee. ALL fees whether credit card or otherwise are deductions on your business taxes. If you want to tick your customer off, mention charging him a cc fee
You don't need to charge a credit card processing fee. Fees are taken off of your taxes. If you charge a credit card processing fee, you are double dipping your customer
It's obvious that everyone including Quickbooks needs to take an accounting course. You don't need to charge a credit card processing fee. Fees are taken off of your taxes. If you charge a credit card processing fee, you are double dipping your customer
