How do I customize the company toolbar QB 2016 [v17.1.5 R6] for Mac?

Thank you so much!!  I couldn't see the customize icon because it went off the screen but after I tried looking at the toolbar in the vertical position, I could see it (smaller icons).  Then it was just figuring out how to scroll over to the end of the horizontal toolbar to click.

How do I customize the company toolbar QB 2016 [v17.1.5 R6] for Mac?

This is very annoying. The toolbar cannot be moved to the top. The option no longer is available. I hate the vertical bar as it is counter productive.

The toolbar can be moved to the top.  QuickBooks->Preferences click on Toolbar and choose horizontal.  I think we added that back in 2014.

How do I customize the company toolbar QB 2016 [v17.1.5 R6] for Mac?

Nope. Not after the 2016 update. It was removed then only added back in R6. Which isn’t support by Yosemite. So dumb. It’s a simple tick box and they couldn’t add it in R5. Now I have to update my entire OSX to an unstable garbage just for this one option and see what other apps don’t work.  Ridiculous!

How do I customize the company toolbar QB 2016 [v17.1.5 R6] for Mac?

I don’t have those options on R5. I have to update the OS X to Sierra in order to download the newest release. This was added in R6. Ridiculous how much they missed in 2016. I have 2012 with more options.

How do I customize the company toolbar QB 2016 [v17.1.5 R6] for Mac?

Oh - ok, sorry.  There are tons of things in the 2016 version that were added after R5. Apple got rid of garbage collection and the post R5 versions use ARC - its a major dividing line.

How do I customize the company toolbar QB 2016 [v17.1.5 R6] for Mac?

Yeah I see it’s all the way up to R27 now. Seems like what Apple did was just cause more problems. Typical.

How do I customize the company toolbar QB 2016 [v17.1.5 R6] for Mac?

If you are on Mavericks or Yosemite you can only update up to R5. If you are El Capitan or greater you can update all the way. I think.  The update dialog will tell you what the most recent one available is.

How do I customize the company toolbar QB 2016 [v17.1.5 R6] for Mac?

I have the steps you can perform to locate the toolbar in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Mac, @Olumide Oteniya .

Here are the possible reasons you're unable to find the toolbar after opening the application:

  • You're using the Release 5 (R5) for Mac 2016. This option is available in the Release 6 (R6). Just refer to the information provided by matt12 above.
  • The program isn't updated if you're using the 2019 or 2020 version.

To help fix this, let's first ensure your system requirements are compatible with running the application. This way, you'll get the best experience in QBDT for Mac. Just click the link below specific to your product year.

Second, let's update the program to the latest release. It improves your software functionality. With this, you'll have the latest features and fixes.

Third, let's go to the Preferences window so you can locate the toolbar. I'll guide you how.

  1. Go to QuickBooks from the top menu.
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. Choose Toolbar.
  4. Check the Display Toolbar box.
  5. Close the Preferences window.

For your reference, I'd suggest clicking each link below, depending on the product year you're using. Just go to the Toolbar preferences section. It has in-depth details about managing your lists, accounts, items, income, expenses, and your company file.

Also, you can change the icons, color, resize, move, hide, and keep the toolbar expanded. Doing so will help you use the default display and the tools you need the most. For more details, see the Customizing the toolbar section through this article: Customize Your Company File's Appearance

I'm here anytime you have other concerns. Take care always. Stay healthy, @Olumide Oteniya .
