How do i delete a client

Simple question---how does one delete a client that was incorrectly entered. There is NOTHING attached to the client. Should be simple, but I cannot find anything.

Hello. 

 

I'd be glad to share some details about deleting a client from QuickBooks Online. 

 

We can inactivate the client's profile to remove them from the active Customers or Clients list. Here's how: 

 

  1. Go to Sales, then click the Customers tab.
  2. Find the client you want to inactivate, then click the arrow icon beside Create invoice
  3. Select Make inactive
  4. Proceed with Yes on the confirmation screen.

I should also mention that inactivating the client won't completely remove them from QuickBooks. Currently, we're unable to completely delete them from the system. 

 

If only some details were entered incorrectly on the client's profile, we can edit the information instead of inactivating them. Simply open the client's profile, then click the Edit button.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), you can make a customer inactive or delete from your list even if they have an open balance. The program will automatically create an adjusting transaction to offset your customer's balance inside your company. We'll be happy to write down the steps to get you going:

 

  1. Access your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. On the left navigational bar, go to the Customers & leads tab.
  3. Locate the customer you want to make inactive, and then click on them.
  4. Click the Dropdown arrow beside Edit.
  5. Select Make Inactive. A prompt will appear in your screen explaining that your customer has an open balance, and that QBO will create an adjusting transaction.
  6. Click the Yes, make inactive button.
