To record a payment made by credit card on a sales receipt that’s linked to an existing invoice in QuickBooks, here’s what you can do:
If you’re using QuickBooks Payments, the transaction should automatically sync, but always double-check for accuracy!

You can record the payment using either of the transactions you've created, Julie. Allow me to help you with recording the payment.
First, if you want to choose the sales receipt, you can delete the invoice and match it to the downloaded payment under the For review tab.

Otherwise, you can also record the paid invoice using the Receive payment feature, then match the downloaded transaction to the open invoice. After that, you can delete the sales receipt.
