in the old layout, I was able to customize invoices send to customers to exclude the 'qty' and 'rate' columns, which is a necessity for my business. How can this be accomplished in the New Layout? It appears this functionality has been removed? unless i just cant find it.
Hello, @aborgardt.
The customization process in the new invoice layout is slightly different from the previous experience. Let me guide you through the steps in removing the "Qty" and "Rate" from your invoice in the new layout.
After this, please see the image below for reference in applying the created form style:
Alternatively, you can also choose to remove the quantity and rate fields in your sales forms. Here's how:

These are the directions to create forms in the 'OLD' style. I have already completed this years ago. In order to use the new features available with the 'NEW' style, I need to make these adjustments to the 'NEW' style forms, which is not done in that area. I did, just now, follow your directions to verify what im trying to do can not be done there.....
I can see that your business has a definite need, aborgardt. I appreciate your effort in performing the steps shared above, and I've come to provide additional insights when customizing sales form transactions with the new layout experience.
With the new version of invoicing and estimates, you can update and personalize your forms when creating them or in the invoice window. All the tools you need for customization are on the template itself.
For now, I'll take note of your feedback to help improve our service and your overall QuickBooks experience. I highly appreciate your patience and understanding as we work on enhancing our product. You may personally send this idea to our program developers to work on its progress and include them in future updates. To do that:
In addition to that, turning off the Track quantity and price/rate option from your account's settings can be an alternative way to remove them from your sales forms. However, this section is considered for tracking your inventories to see insights on what you need to buy and sell for your company.
In case you want to create templates for recurring transactions, I've included this guide to help you handle these entries: Create recurring transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Maybe I've spent too much around ai, but I feel like your question wasn't answered or I'm unable to follow since I'm having the same exact issue. Maybe the 2025 version will have the ability to turn quantities off...
Thank you for the screenshot. I gave it a try and it did what i anticipated it would do. It took rate and quantity out of everything. I want to use it to build estimates and invoices, i just dont want it to display on the pdf my customers receive.
I like to be able to use quantity and rate when estimating but I don't show those to all of my clients. I will probably just use the old version unless that changes.
Same problem, it was working fine and then it wasn't. I've tried everything mentioned here and on other forums and nothing works.
I just get the standard "Please know that we've received a similar issue of your concern. Our product engineers are working on a solution for the problem where estimates do not use the custom form style selected when sent to the customer using the new experience. The problem occurs when emailing an estimate, as it still includes the quantity, rate, and description despite unchecking them in the customer form style."
The standard answer is the engineers are working on it or I will bring it to their attention, very frustrating!!!
I did find out 2 weeks ago that when QBO updated their software in early May 2024 that they messed up the ability to turn off details on the estimate sheets. When I called, the person I talked to said that they had over 300 complaints in the last 2 days so they assured me they were working on it. Of course the problem is still not solved.
We found out by accident that our customers were getting our rate details so I am sure that there are thousands of QBO users out there that have no idea that they are sending their customers their rate details. I would guess that they will lose some bids due to this mistake.
My son asked me to help with his bookkeeping since he was spending way too much time trying to keep-up with all of QBO's mistakes.
Are they still working on INV-104786? We need to be able to send estimates to customers without them seeing our rates.
It's been two weeks since we discovered the problem that started in early May 2024. If this doesn't get fixed asap we will be forced to consider other accounting software.
Thank you

How long will it take to fix something that has been working fine for years?
Are they still working on INV-104786?
Supposedly QBO messed this function up when they did an update last May. I can't believe that it isn't working yet.
We found out by accident that our rates were showing up on customers estimates. I can imagine that there are probably 10's of thousands of QBO users that don't know they are showing their rates to their customers. This will undoubtedly cause some businesses to lose customers.
I'm happy to share some updates regarding the investigation you're waiting for, @22222.
Currently, the investigation is still in progress. I assure you that our product engineers are now looking into this matter and fixing this as soon as possible. Once the issue is fixed, you'll receive an email confirmation to the email address added as the affected user.

Let me know if you still have other questions about your invoices. Have a great day, and take care always.
After months of waiting it looked like it was fixed and now it is acting up again. We just had a client question our hours and rates.
At this point we are officially looking for a different software package, QBO is too unpredictable. It appears that when they fix a bug a new one is created. Unfortunately, we do not have the time to continually check and test the qbo software functions.
