It's nice to have you here in the Community, Steve.
Let me provide information for you to split your payments charging to multiple accounts in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
To start, you can use the Split Transactions feature in the For Review section. By doing this, you can split your payments, charging them to multiple accounts.
Here's how:
For more details, you can check this article: Enter split transactions into the register.
I'll also add this article to learn how to categorize transactions uploaded to QBO: Categorize online bank transactions.
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns about splitting payments. I'm here to help you out, Steve!
I have been doing exactly this procedure to split the accounts of our business' 2 credit cards monthly statements.
My accountant keeps telling me that these entries post to only 1 account on his end. He shows me where they post 100% of the check amount to TELEPHONE EXPENSE. No split accounts. I show him that on my MAC it does show ALL the split accounts. How do I get his computer to be in sync with mine.
The best way to do this is to create an actual credit card account, much like a bank account in QuickBooks, record the charges there, and then use the credit card account on the payment.
When doing so, then your charges appear on your financials on the date you made your purchases, which is appropriate, and your payments are straightforward - essentially transfers.
Thank you I will give it a try and put them in credit card accounts.
But is there no explanation why the accountant is not seeing the bank transactions exactly the same as how I posted them on my computer?
I don't know how that might happen. Assuming you're both using the same company, you should see the same transactions.
