Hi rockstarbookschi!
I'm here to help you and explain how the payment link in QuickBooks Online works.
If you'll send an e-invoice (electronic invoice) and your QuickBooks Payments is connected, the email will include a button where they can process the payment. When you make any changes to the invoice, it'll sync automatically and they'll be able to see it when they clicked the button. Currently, we're unable to stop the syncing to ensure the payment they made will be reflected in the right transaction in QuickBooks Online.
We've compiled the common articles about QuickBooks Payments. These will discuss more on how this service can help your business. Check them here: QuickBooks Payments FAQ.
Keep on posting here and we'll assist you. Have a great day!
Yes, I understand that.
There is NO way to send an invoice with the choices for payment to click on as a pdf?
I am trying to find a way to send invoices out that if a change is made, the customer will NOT see the change and can still pay from the invoice. Thank you.
Hello, rockstarbookschi.
I'll clarify the details about the invoice changes on the payment link.
Yes, that's correct. As what AlexV mentioned, changes to your invoices will always sync on the payment link. We're also unable to add a PDF version of the link.
Though, your customer won't be able to see any changes if they look at the original email body (not the payment link itself).
Our developers might add a way to let you send a payment link as a PDF (without syncing the changes). I would recommend sending feedback by clicking the gear icon, then selecting Feedback.

For final confirmation as this makes no sense in this time of so much technology... :/
There is no way to send an invoice as a pdf from QBO with a way for a customer to pay unless it's sent directly from QBO?
Thank you all.
Hello, rockstarbookschi.
Yes, that's correct. However, you can download the invoice through PDF.
For your future reference, if you need to categorize and match your transaction, you can check out this article: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
Keep me posed if there's anything else that you need help with. Take care!
So there is no way to add a payment link to the downloaded PDF on the invoice? My client prefers to email their invoices to their clients directly but would like to give them the option of paying online. So normally I create the invoices and send them to my client as PDFs for them to then send to their clients. I am not sending the invoices to their clients directly from QBO. So we would like to be able to have a "Pay Online" link (like what is currently available for QB for Mac) on the PDF of the invoice.
Thanks for joining in on this thread, MaryBethP.
I'd like to share some steps about your situation.
When your QuickBooks Payments is enabled, you can create custom Payment Links for your customers. Then, copy the auto-generated link and paste it in the Message on invoice field of your customer's invoice.
Additionally, you can share the link via text message or alternative messaging channels. If you want to use the QR code option, I've got this article for more information: Payment links in QuickBooks Online Payments.
If there's anything else you need, please feel free to leave a comment below. We're always around to help. Have a great day ahead!
QB Payment doesn't have such feature. You should explore other payment processors to integrate with QBO.
