Hi there, @GerriF.
If you're referring to the pop-up messages for products and services. I'll be glad to walk you through on how to turn off the pop-up advertisements in your QuickBooks Desktop(QBDT) account.
Once done sign out and sign back into your QBDT account to check if the pop-up advertisements will not show.
Also, I'll add our Help article to know more about the pop-up advertisement that displays on your page.
Feel free to reach out to me for any questions you may have with the advertisements popping up when using QuickBooks. All the best.
Nope. Mine is and has been checked and I still have the new "Get Funding When You Need It" ad on my Accept Payment form and now I have to maximize the program and form to get to my Save button.
I paid for QB, I don't want to see any ads regardless of how they are cloaked.
thx
Hey there, @deedee1. Thanks for joining the thread.
The ability to turn off promotional non-popup links inside of QuickBooks Desktop isn't yet available. I'll pass along your feedback to our Product Development Team for possible implementation in a future release. We take your feedback seriously, as it helps us grow.
Let me know if you have any other questions by hitting that Reply button below. We're here to help. Have a safe week ahead!
So y'all now have an update that effectively removes the text of the ad but does not give the white space back to the Customer Payments form. The screen is still shifted downward and it STILL messes up the form and how it fits on the screen.
I still now must maximize QB and maximize the Customer Payment window in order to enter payments and click Save.
Please, just take it out all together.
Thanks
This is annoying, what's taking so long to remove these two new pop ups??
Why is taking so long to remove these two pop ups??
Hi there, ABBassman.
As mentioned by my colleagues above, to turn off the pop-up messages for products and services, you'll need to go to the Edit icon. You can follow the steps provided above.
I can see how removing these promotional non-popup links inside of QuickBooks would be helpful for both you and your organization. Currently, this is a default in QBDT and doesn't have the option to remove this.
I suggest checking our QBDT Blog to learn more about our product updates and features to be implemented.
Please let me know if you have other questions. I'm always here to help.
Where is the edit menu?
There is no excuse for me having to spend this much time removing a popup ad. There are multiple issues with online quick books that I am going to eventually put on this page.
Thanks for joining this discussion, tuckeriron.
Your Edit drop-down menu can be found in the top-left corner of QuickBooks Desktop.
For steps to turn off pop-up advertisement preferences, refer to what my colleague, Joesem M, posted earlier in this thread.
You'll be able to find many resources on how to use QBDT in our help article archives.
If you have any other questions, feel more than welcome to create a post anytime. The Community will be here to help. Have a good day!
This "preferences menu" solution does not work, mine is set to turn off all pop ups and STILL DAILY the "dIscOvEr sEAsoNaL hIriNg TiPs" NONSENSE pops up daily sometimes will not go away even when the X is clicked to close it either an half the time will crash it. Premier 2021 lol "premier" but I still have daily spam from Intuit. K. God I hate Qbs.
Hi again! A new ad is popping up and the options to it are "Maybe later" and "Try Now". I don't want to "manage my expenses easily" by using Quickbooks Online.
How do I say NO, Thank you once and for all? (I feel like a tourist in Jamaica. NO, I don't want my hair braided and neither does my husband)
I pay for QuickBook Desktop, is that not enough?
Thanks in advance
Hello, deedee1.
As a user myself, I would also like an option to hide ads forever on a software I paid for. While ads may show offers you're interested with, I prefer a minimalistic and manual approach on other offerings.
That said, I have some information regarding the options in hiding the new ad.
At this time, you can only select Maybe later or Try Now on the new ad. So, we're unable to completely remove it once and for all.
If you haven't already done it yet, I do recommend sending feedback to our developers to have an option to completely remove ads. They'll take a look at your suggestion and might consider it for future improvements.
Simply go to the Help menu, hover on Send Feedback Online, then select Product Suggestion.
With that out of the way, do you help managing your customer deposits? You might find this article helpful: Deposit payments into the Undeposited Funds account in QuickBooks Desktop.
I still want to hear you out if you have other concerns regarding QuickBooks Desktop's features. Did you encounter any obstacles while managing your lists, reports and entries? Let me know and I'll help you out.
I love that the response to the question is "no, we can't get rid of the ads" then goes on to say "but do you want to learn about customer deposits?". An ad within am answer about how to get rid of ads!!
This may work. It seems to have worked for us, using multiple versions of QuickBooks:
How to Stop QuickBooks Desktop Advertisements & Crashes
Thanks, we will try it
Sweet music. Thank you!
This is still a problem in 2023 - continual popups for online product in desktop version. Doesn't matter that I have it checked to stop popups, they continue and this constant intrusion and interruption is annoying and frustrating. I'm beginning to loath QB, whereas I had nothing but good to say about it prior to this. Thanks QB for screwing up a good thing.
I cannot get rid of a pop up that blocks my screen to be able to work
it says
get reports in your inbox automatically.
It has a box to click "Later" but it does not work to close the pop up
How do I get rid of it!!!
I clicked the boxes for not getting advertising on preferences
Thank you for joining the thread and sharing your thoughts with us, @BD5619. I appreciate your effort in performing those steps.

Get rid of the all ads!!!!!!!!!!
I've been a user for over 20 years!
Maybe later....get rid of it!!!
I mean it! I'm tired of this sh#@!!!
If you don't get rid of the annoying sh#@ I'm gone. I don't care about learning another program. It will be worth it.
Are you listening you piece of sh#@ text scanning robots!!!!!
Get it done!!!!!!!
Why don't YOU talk to the developers!
I am so sick of all the ads. I called the other day for help with updating a credit card for a client (Me - as an "Authorized User" was not AUTHORIZED to change the credit card and we couldn't get into it through his account log in - it is actually an INTUIT issue - go figure - and finally she took the credit card over the phone and updated it.)
But I digress - the call started out with being asked questions to "help me use Quick Books better" - I immediately said I don't have time for this. You are trying to sell me something and all I want to do is update this credit card. I do NOT have time for all this other crap. I have used Quick Books for 30 years.
I want my Quick Books Pro Desktop from 2021 to continue, and continue. I DO NOT want your ultra expensive subscription version which will lock me out when I stop paying for the subscription. I have some clients still using 2019! Once I buy the software it should be available to me forever.
You guys have to read the room! We hate where Quick Books is going. If I talk to someone just getting started and asking me which accounting software to begin with - I will tell them DON'T buy Quick Books! Find something else.
Here, here! Thank you for sharing your opinion on desktop and your frustration with QB Intuit's push into something we do not want. I feel the same way, have stated it thru comment and in survey that I will no longer recommend Intuit QB because of this obnoxious, intrusive and interruptive push to online subscription and will move to another accounting software when that time comes. And I believe Intuit is purposefully NOT listening to our requests and recommendations. Even more reason to move to something else.
I too have been a long time user of Quickbooks. It has been great until about the last 4 or so years. I used to be able to buy the software and use it for 3 years. Now my expense has more than tripled from 2021. I too am wanting to change, but am unable as my accountant wants to use Quickbooks.
Quickbooks should be investigated for antitrust law violations. They buy out all of their competitors, so there aren't many other options out there. Maybe that would get their attention.
the method indicated by the post does not work
