How to delete a category

Let’s go to your Chart of Accounts and delete the account or category you don’t need. Before we start, I recommend checking with your accountant to ensure that deleting the account is right for your books.

If you’re not affiliated with one, you can visit this link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/find-an-accountant/ and find an expert near you. Once ready, you can follow these steps below. 

1. Go to the Gear icon.
2. Select Chart of Accounts.
3. Locate the account you want to delete and select Make inactive from the drop-down menu under the ACTION column.
