How to export Chart of Accounts to Excel

Good morning, @jwoodward-selecs

It's great to see a new face here in the Community. I've got you covered!

I can walk you through the process of exporting one of your Chart of Accounts to Excel from your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account. Don't worry. It's a simple process. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Accounting tab on the left-hand menu bar.
  2. Select the Chart of Accounts portion of the page.

       3. Locate and double-click on the account you'd like to export.

       4. Above the "Balance" column, choose the Export icon. This will automatically export the information to Excel.

Note: Exporting your Chart of Account list itself, isn't available in QBO. Only one account at a time.

For future reference, here's a guide with further details about usage limits for Chart of Accounts.

These steps should get one of your Chart of Accounts information into Excel for you. If you have any trouble along the way, just let me know. I'm always here to lend a helping hand. Wishing you and your business continued success!

How to export Chart of Accounts to Excel

Hi, Candice!

A Chart of Accounts is the entire list of accounts that you see when you pull up the chart of accounts. (This is not a Quickbooks-specific term; it's a general accounting term.)

There is no such thing as "one of your Chart of Accounts." A single item on the list is called an account. The list of all a company's accounts is the Chart of Accounts.

I think you've posted instructions for downloading the register for a single account. These instructions are not related to the question.

You've also said there is no way to download the Chart of Accounts. I've just successfully downloaded mine, using the "Run Report" button visible in the first screenshot you posted. I suppose it's possible that not all versions of QBO allow this, so I'll let someone from your team answer the original question in more detail.

Thank you!
