How to generate a list of all deposits including "received from" info

Aloha. I will be closing my business soon, and I want to generate a list of customers who have paid me in the last two years, so that I can send them a 'thank you' and 'goodbye' email. I'm using QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2021. I found a way to export the check register to Excel so that I can get a list of all deposits, but the report does not include the "received from" info and I do not see this field in the customization dialog.  So, how do I generate a list that includes the "received from" information?

How to generate a list of all deposits including "received from" info

I see your dedication to providing excellent customer service, Harry. I'm here to assist you with generating a report that lists the customers who have paid you.

Currently, there's no specific report or column that displays the "received from" information in QuickBooks Desktop. However, there are two workarounds that can help you achieve your desired outcome.

The first option is to export the Transaction List by Customer to Excel and manually add a column for "received from". The second one is to customize the report to view a list of names of those who have paid or made a deposit.

Here's how:

  1. Hover to Reports, then select Customers & Receivables.
  2. Choose Transaction List by Customer, then click Customize Report
  3. Set the Dates to you preferred date period , this shows all transactions by your customers.
  4. In the Columns section, scroll down and tick the Number, NamePaid, Amount
  5. Make sure to untick all the unnecessary columns.
  6. Now, go to the Filters section, in the Filter column type in Paid Status then tick Closed.
  7. Click OK

Moreover, I'll add an article to share some tips and information about running and customizing reports: Understand reports

I'll be glad to assist you further regarding the generating of reports in QuickBooks Desktop. I'm always here to back you up. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors, Harry!
