How to allocate job costs from old system to QB Enterprise contractors 2021 for existing jobs?
Hello @Teresa7824,
Thank you for posting here in the Community. I can help you move data into QuickBooks Enterprise.
When you say old system, are you referring to an old version of QuickBooks Desktop? If yes, you can only move job costs by upgrading the old company file and bringing over all the data into your Enterprise version.
Check out this link for additional guidance on the process: Upgrade your company files after you switch to a new version of QuickBooks Desktop.
Also, there are limitations in using the export/import feature of QuickBooks. Please note that you can only export the Job Type List from the old file. The ability to export transactions is unavailable in the Desktop version.
Here's a sample screenshot of the information you can export out of QuickBooks:
Alternatively, you can utilize third-party applications to help you import the job costs into QuickBooks Enterprise. We can't recommend a specific app, but you can check these applications for more information about their service:
If what you meant by the old system is another application, you'll need to use third-party migration tools. This way, you can move the data into our program.
In case you're referring to something else, please let me know. You can provide additional details by adding a comment below.
I've attached an article you can visit to know more about the export and import limitations in QuickBooks: Export, import, and edit IIF files.
I'm a post away if you have any questions about migrating data. Take care.
Which old system did you have?
DUH Guess that would help. We are moving from Viewpoint Procontractor. Thanks
