Thanks for the additional details and screenshots regarding your concern, @jdnewberry7.I reviewed it further and see that the information you shared about selecting an item behavior in the new invoice layout is correct.
Currently, the option to show the product/services' part number (SKU) and description of your transactions is unavailable in the new format of QuickBooks Online (QBO). Only the item name will appear when typing in the Product/Service column, and you'll have to select one item first to view its part number (SKU) and descriptions in the meantime.
For now, I recommend sending feedback to our Product Development Team regarding this matter. They're willing to receive your requests and actively encourage you to share your insights and suggestions. Let me show you how:

I'm having the same issue, it was there prior to this update. Not having the description show with the part numbers is a MAJOR issue.
This feature was there until this latest update. This is a MAJOR issue when I'm trying to invoice customers for a mobile service and have thousands of part numbers. With the previous format I could know a portion of the part number and then follow the descriptions to get the rest of the needed info. Now I have to go to another website look up the part (which is not the easiest or time saving thing to do) to make sure I type/bill the correct info.
