Hello, callen.

Thank you for reaching out to the Community. To ensure that inventory quantities are accurate and up-to-date on Shopify, it's important to ensure they are synced with QuickBooks Online. This can be achieved by integrating the two platforms, which will allow for automatic updates to inventory quantities as sales are made. By doing this, you can avoid overselling and ensure accurate order fulfillment.

Here's how:

  1. Connect QuickBooks Online and Shopify: Go to the Apps menu and search for the Shopify app in QuickBooks Online. Install and connect it to your Shopify store.
  2. Enable inventory tracking in QuickBooks Online: In QuickBooks Online, navigate to the Gear icon and select Account and Settings. Go to the Sales tab and click on the Edit button next to Products and Services. Check the box that says "Track quantity and price/rate" and save your changes.
  3. Set up inventory items in QuickBooks Online: Create or update your inventory items in QuickBooks Online. Make sure to enter the correct quantity on hand for each item.
  4. Map inventory items in the Shopify app: Go to the Apps menu in QuickBooks Online and select the Shopify app. Click the Manage Inventory tab and map your QuickBooks Online inventory items to the corresponding Shopify products.
  5. Sync inventory between QuickBooks Online and Shopify: Once the mapping is complete, the inventory quantities should automatically sync between QuickBooks Online and Shopify. Any changes made to inventory quantities in QuickBooks Online will be reflected in Shopify.

I do not have a manage inventory tab in Shopify App in Quickbooks Online. The inventory quantity is all in Quickbooks online. Shopify shows 0 inventory counts for purchase orders recieved in Quickbooks Online. I do not understand how to transfer inventory quanities from Quickbooks Online to Shopify to get the store started.

Thank you for visiting the QuickBooks Community. I'll be sharing details on how Shopify integration with QuickBooks Online (QBO) works.

Integrating Shopify with QuickBooks will instantly import your sales, order details, and inventory into QuickBooks. If you choose to halt your Shopify store, all transactions that have previously synced from Shopify will remain in QuickBooks.

On the other hand, there's no manage inventory tab within the Shopify app, what we can do is to manually track the inventory quantity. Let me show you how:

  1. From the Shopify app, go to Products, then choose All products.
  2. Tap the product that you want to track.
  3. If the product has variants, then tap the variant that you want to edit. You'll have to set inventory tracking for each variant individually.
  4. In the Inventory section, tap More.
  5. On the Inventory details screen, activate Track quantity.
  6. If you want to allow customers to purchase the item when it's out of stock, then activate Continue selling when out of stock.
  7. In the Quantity section, enter the number of Available units that you have for the product or variant.
  8. Tap Save.
  9. Click X, and then hit Done.
