I can run budget versus actuals for the whole company but I actually uploaded budget by sub-division (class) so can I also run budget versus actual by class?

I can also run budget by class but I'm having trouble running actuals vs budget by class. I'd like to also run this report by month.

Yes, you can generate an Actuals vs. Budget report by class in QuickBooks Online (QBO), provided your transactions and budgets are properly assigned to classes, kogawa.

To begin, let's ensure the report is filtered to show actuals vs. budget data by class using the Accounts vs. Classes view in the Show Grid. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports section.
  2. Search for and open the Budget vs. Actual report.

  3. Click Customize at the top of the report.
  4. In the Show Grid menu, select Accounts vs. Classes. This will arrange the report to compare data by class.
  5. Click Run report.

However, if you're looking to segment the report by month while comparing actual and budget by class, QBO currently doesn't offer this feature. The report interface only allows you to focus on two main dimensions at a time.

As a workaround, you can filter the report by date and export it to Excel to manually customize the data. Here’s how:

  1. Run the Budget vs. Actual report with your desired filters.
  2. In the Budget dropdown, select the appropriate budget.
  3. Specify the Report period to cover the desired months or date range.
  4. Click Run Report to generate your customized view.

  5. When you’re ready, click Export to Excel to download the report for customization.
