Thank you for posting in the Community, tmowbray. Let me provide information about creating a budget and why it's pulling previous years in your QuickBooks Online (QBO).
To begin with, let's ensure your fiscal year start date is correct. While you can create a budget at any time, starting at the beginning of the fiscal year is ideal. If not, the system may default to the wrong year. Here's how to check your fiscal year:
- Navigate Settings and select Account and settings.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Check the First month of fiscal year field in the Accounting section. If it's incorrect, click Edit.
- Choose the correct month from the dropdown.
- Click Save.
In addition, let’s also review the uploaded budget to confirm that the data you’ve uploaded aligns with the correct year and verify that all dates in your file are accurate. For more information, please refer to this article: Create budgets in QuickBooks Online.
Furthermore, you can also run the Budget Overview or Budget vs. Actuals reports to view your current data budget. Refer to these articles for a guide on handling them within the program: Run reports in QuickBooks Online.
