The rules work best when you have the same types of transactions so the system can easily determine the correct categorization. If they are not identical to the rule, this would cause them not apply in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE).
Let's review the rules you set up to track the miles. Then, go back to the Mileage menu and check if they are categorized correctly.
If the same thing happens, clear the app's cache. These are junk files that can cause unusual behavior in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) Mobile App.
For Android:
- Go to Settings and select Apps.
- Choose QuickBooks Self-Employed and click on Storage.
- Select Clear Data.
For iOS:
- Go to Settings and select Setting General iPhone Storage.
- Select Offload App.
You can also uninstall and reinstall the app to resolve any data issue in the mobile app. Let's ensure to review all your pending trips first. Those will be removed from your account once you've uninstalled it.

Once done, recreate the rule again. Let me show you how:
- Go to the Mileage tab.
- Click on Trip.
- Under trip details, tap the Create Rule tab at the bottom left side of the page.
