I do not like the new invoice template. How to I go back to old template?

Hello there, bcminc.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the new invoice layout. My main goal is to assist you in making the transition back to the old invoice experience as smooth as possible.

In addition to the response given by @BigRedConsulting, let's select the Old layout option so you can enjoy the classic experience once again. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to do it:

  1. In your company, click the Plus icon + and choose Invoice.
  2. At the top right of the form, choose Old layout.

Please keep in mind that once you make the switch to the previous invoice experience, you'll no longer be able to opt back into the new sales form layout. If the Old layout option is unavailable, let's send a request about adding a tool that lets users easily switch from the classic to the new template layout.

We truly value your feedback as it plays a vital role in determining the features that are most important to our customers, including the areas where we can make enhancements. To share your product suggestions, just follow these easy steps:

  1. Go to the Gear icon in your company and select Feedback under Profile.
  2. Enter your comments and product suggestions.
  3. Click Next to submit.

We need to have more than three fields for our invoices. How can I get my 5 custom fields back?

Hi, @nelsonphero.

I'm here to help. Let me also provide updates on the recent changes in adding custom fields in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

QBO is gradually rolling out changes to all subscriptions and introducing new features. While adding a custom field isn't possible in the Simple Start subscription, Essentials and Plus users can add up to three custom fields in their invoices and other sales forms.

I understand that it is essential for your invoicing process to add custom fields. For now, you may consider upgrading to an Advanced subscription to add five or more custom fields. I also suggest looking for a third-party app that adds custom fields in your invoices in the meantime.

Here's how:

  1. In your QBO account, go to Apps.
  2. Select Find apps.
  3. Type in keywords in the search bar or choose Browse categories.

For further help on managing your invoices, let me add this resource: Manage invoices.

You're always welcome in the Community if you have further updates on adding custom fields on invoices. Take care.

Okay, the problem with this is that I used to be able to include itemization for my invoices, INTERNALLY, without making those fields visible on the form when the customer receives it. Has Quickbooks removed this function, or did it just reset when the form was force-updated for everyone? Because of tax law, I need to get this changed, pronto, before I send out any more invoices.

So, here we are once again with an unworkable template rammed down with our throat without our permission or with the option to return to a workable template. What the hell is wrong with you people?

Your switching back doesn't seem to be working. There is no plus available to switch back. I don't need a new template forced on me.  We need time to adjust and train people.  What the heck are you thinking?  How do I change back?  These instructions don't seem to work for me.  It kind of looks like an old template but is much bigger, has junk on the page that is not relevant (or certainly takes up way too much of the screen) and it is hard to see relevant information and is slower.  The fields are also in a different order.

The first product or service I add is below my 1080p screen but may move up slightly when I close your message.

I hear all your sentiments on your concern, @jktcat. Allow me to add more details of the new invoice layout of QuickBooks Online (QBO).

As per checking in my resources, QBO Plus and Advanced users will be able to move into the new interface starting May 6, 2024. Once the transition is complete, users won't be able to switch back to the previous format. By the end of May, all users will be using the new invoicing experience that is designed to boost productivity and simplify the user workflow.

That said, the option to revert to the old layout is no longer available. If you want to use the previous invoice experience, let's send a request about adding a tool that the user can easily switch from the new layout to the old layout and value your suggestions as a necessary role in determining the features that are important to our customers in making product enhancements. To share your product suggestions, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Gear icon in your company and select Feedback under Profile.
  2. Enter your comments and product suggestions.
  3. Click Next to submit.

Also, you can visit this article to learn more about the new layout for QBO that can help you land jobs, keep work moving, and get paid faster: See what’s new with estimates and invoices in QuickBooks Online.

In addition, you can check this link to learn how to personalize and add specific info to your sales forms: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

If you have further questions about the new template layout or any QuickBooks-related concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out in the comment section. I'm always here to help you. Keep safe.
