I made a contractor inactive today. Now, I cannot see the contractor. How can I see that contractor again? Also how can I generate 1099s for them in January 2023?

Hello @inforesults,

Thank you for posting here in the Community! I can help you show the contractor again in QuickBooks Online.

In the Contractors section, you can filter the names you want to see from the list. I recommend selecting All or Inactive to show or include your inactive contractor.

You can change the status by visiting their profile. You'll get an option to mark the account as active again.

Here's how:

  1. On the left navigation bar, click Payroll.
  2. Go to the Contractors tab.
  3. Press the drop-down arrow next to the Find a contractor search field.
  4. Select Inactive or All to show inactive contractors.
  5. Click the contractor's name.
  6. Choose Mark as active.

To generate 1099s for your contractors, visit this link: Create and file 1099s with QuickBooks Online.

There are two 1099 forms and different steps to prepare for the upcoming tax season. For additional reference you can use about it, I've attached an article I found helpful for you: Get answers to your 1099 questions.

Comment down below if you have more questions about your contractors or 1099s in QuickBooks. I'm always available to lend a hand.
