I received an invoice for Norton Antivirus in connection to Quickbooks but I never signed up for it?

We received an invoice for $459.99 also and when I called they wanted to take over my computer (wanted my computer address) to supposedly remove their software from my computer.  I refused and cancelled the call because that seemed very fishy to me.  The email claims to have charged a Visa .... but with no digits, such as last four, and when I reviewed my credit cards I did not see this charge.  Be careful.

A friend of mine got this notice.  I thought it was a scam it was from [email address removed], it had an attached invoice which I didn't click on.  Here's was for $540.96 and you can contact them at 1 (801) 893-1920.  They say it's for Norton Life Lock.  The billing department address is

426 palos verdes blvd Redondo Beach, CA 90277 US - The address looks like condos.

Then there's a [email address removed] - I'm providing this info in case you received the same notice.

I called the number on the invoice they emailed me to ask them about the charge (I fishing because I thought it was possible a scam). The guy on the phone wanted me to open my laptop, and asked if I used Windows or Apple. I asked him, "don't you want my invoice number?". He got really irritated with me and actually started yelling at me, and told me not to call anymore. I think one of the folks who commented was right; these scammers created an account with QB.

Thanks for joining the thread, @snoop2. I'll walk you through on how you can cancel your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.

You'll want to go to your company's Accounts and setting to cancel the subscription. To begin, here's how:

  1. Open a web browser on your computer, not a mobile device.
  2. Sign in to QuickBooks Online as an admin user.
  3. Go to the Gear icon, and then select Account and settings.
  4. Go to Billing & subscription.
  5. In the QuickBooks section, select Cancel subscription or Cancel online. If you're canceling a trial, select Cancel trial.
  6. Follow the onscreen steps.

Visit this page for more information: Cancel your QuickBooks Online subscription or trial.

In addition, I've got you this article about how to get your data out of your QBO account: Export reports, lists, and other data from QuickBooks Online.

You can also check this article in case you'd like to resubscribe and use QuickBooks Online: How to resubscribe to or reactivate QuickBooks Online.

@snoop2, our door is open 24/7 if you have any additional QuickBooks-related concerns. It'll always be my pleasure to help you out again. Stay safe, and enjoy the rest of the week.

Hi. I'm in the UK, and I've just received this Norton scam too. Can't someone at QB sort this out please?

We're committed to protecting our customer's information and keeping them secure in any way, Cesrab.

Suspicious email is a  scheme so you'll get to share your personal information. If you're not sure where an email came from, here are a few things that you'll have to look at.

  • We’ll never ask for your personal info in an email.
  • Our emails will always come from an email address that ends with @intuit.com. This includes @e.intuit.com.
  • Any link we send you in an email will always be for an intuit.com address.

You can check out our security notices for details if you received suspicious emails. You’ll also see tips on how to protect your business from fraud or suspicious emails. I've added this security for your additional reference: Online Security Tips. Please know that the information I've provided may be in the US version, but they work just likely the same even if you're in the UK.

You'll also want to go to the Online Security Center page to see how we protect your data and how you can protect yourself from email scams and other security risks. For more information on how you can protect yourself from phishing attacks, read this article for details: Identify Suspicious Activity, Phishing Scams, And Potential Fraud

Keep me posted if you still have questions about scams through fake emails. I’ll get back to make sure this is taken care of for you. Have a good one and stay safe.

I'm convinced the email I received is a scam - despite the email address being legitimate according the the QB admin responses - and will just delete.  But I can't help but say how disappointed I am by the level of support on this issue from QB. Every answer was just an automated response. If QB prides themselves on having any resemblance of customer service,  READ your customers' concerns and comments!

Same scam, different security vendor - AVG.  I'd block the email address but it's "[email address removed]" is the same email address and domain used by legitimate vendors.  Sent email with attached invoice to Intuit Security.  Beware invoices with [removed phone number] contact number.

Here's a screenshot... I've never subscribed to McAfee. I've never even seen it advertised through Intuit or Mint. But look! Your email domain is in the From field!

Maybe you can explain how that's happening... or, maybe you need to update your recommendations to not tell people that emails are legit when they are of your domain name. See what we're saying?

You're telling people that phishing emails are legitimately from you.

Keeping your account safe is one of our top priorities, @iquityournonsense.

I understand the relevance of getting the best QuickBooks experience you aim to have. Please know that this isn't the kind of experience we want you to encounter, and I'm here to ensure that you'll be able to submit an email about your concern. Here's how:

  1. Go to Intuit Security Center.
  2. Click on Contact Us.
  3. Select Report a fake email (or phishing email) to submit a report.

To recognize official Intuit correspondence websites and fraudulent activity, you can refer to this article: Identify suspicious activity, phishing scams, and potential fraud.

Additionally, to guide you on how you can protect your account and how we keep your data secure, I'd recommend checking out this link: How we keep your data safe.

Keep me posted if you need any additional help with QuickBooks. I'm always here to help. Keep safe.

I know how to report them.

You've missed the point, as previous support reps here.

Intuit needs to fix their docs.

They need to stop telling people that phishing emails with Intuit From domains are legitimate.

When Intuit understands the problem (as in, when you report the problem to them), they'll fix the docs.

Until then, reporting the phishing emails addresses a different issue that I'm not talking about.

I just launched an email account I rarely use and I find an invoice Dated 07/05/22 from Norton for $466.00.  I didn't order this.  It mentions Intuit and Mint.  I downloaded mint from the google store.  I have no idea what is going on but I'm going to make such a roar about this across the internet.

OMG,  that's insidious.  I just found that email in my inbox.  Luckily the number I called appeared to be disconnected.

I received a similar email today coming from [email address removed].

The support number seems to be incorrect and shows up as busy when I call. When I view the invoice it lists someone else.

Thank you for joining the thread, @Deanna2626.

I'll share with you insights about how you can identify official Intuit emails.

Scammers send out emails to trick users into sharing personal information or download malware-infected attachments to gain unauthorized access to data sources. They also appear and claim to be associated with Intuit.

Also, if you receive any suspicious emails purporting to be from Intuit, please report them. Go to our Online Security Center to report the incident.

Here's how:

  1. Go to this link: https://security.intuit.com/contact-us.
  2. Look for Report technical support scams.
  3. Click Report tech support scams.

To report strange calls, emails, or fraudulent activities, please email us at spoof@intuit.com. In addition, check out Intuit's article on email communication: Official email communication from Intuit Payments.

In addition, I recommend that you read this article to learn how to identify official Intuit correspondence and websites: Identify suspicious activity, phishing scams, and potential fraud.

Lastly, if you have any QuickBooks-related concerns and want to get in touch with our technical support team, you may refer to this article: QuickBooks Self-Employed Support

You may scroll down to the bottom part of the article to see their contact information.

If you have any further concerns about your service fees, don't hesitate to post them here. Stay safe!
