I want to change the sales receipt to a donation letter but can't get rid of the BILL TO: portion. How can I edit?

Hi there, @FathersHeartAccounting.

Thanks for posting in the Community. Allow me to help share some information about the Sales Receipt template in QuickBooks Online.

At this time, we cannot remove the Bill To portion on a Sales Receipt Template since there's no option to do so. Please check attached screenshot below.

The good news is, we can customize it outside QuickBooks by importing a custom template. Though we don't have an available sales receipt template, in your case, you can customize an invoice template instead. Let me route you to this article for the detailed steps: How to import custom invoices.

You can remove from there the Invoice To option then customize it the way you want. You'll just need to make sure to follow the correct format for the template in Microsoft Word to successfully upload the document.

That should do it. You can always contact us whenever you need help in going through the steps. Here's how you can get our contact information:

  1. Go to: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.
  2. Choose your QuickBooks Product.
  3. On the Contact Us page, click a topic.
  4. Click on the Get Phone Number button to see the support number.

I'll be here to help if you have further questions about the template. Have a good one.

QB won't create a proper donation letter.

Instead use our BRC Donor Statements - QB Online app, which will do this for you.

I have EXACTLY this problem, and it is NOT OKAY that the only fix is a 3rd party app. We need to be able to alter that line of text in communication being sent from our NPO. It sends the wrong message to donors, and needs to be part of our bookkeeping!

I have the very same problem and am very disappointed in QB's ability to customize a sales receipt to a donation receipt.  Donations are the backbone of our non-profit.  I will be looking for another vendor and canceling our online subscription.

I have the exact same problem. Also received notification this week that the price for QB is going up.

We were already thinking about getting rid of our subscription, but this is probably the deciding factor.

It is truly unfathomable why we can't remove something as simple as the 'bill to' language.

Absolutely disheartening that what appears to be as simple tech fix to open up this field as an edit option instead chooses to push a 3rd party app at a cost of $79. After 2 years now of operating a non-profit, it's becoming increasingly obvious many companies take advantage of a non-profit's need for admin help by charging excessive fees for such tools. This is exactly that example. Shame on you QuickBooks.

An Invoice does not work the same as a Sales Receipt. Nonprofits use the Sales Receipt as a Donor Receipt and it enters the donated amounts in the correct account. There is no "New style" template for the Sales Receipt like there is for the Invoice. Quickbooks desktop has far better customization of these forms.
