I would appreciate templates for sales orders and packing slips. Do you have plans to add those functions by any chance? Or can I add a custom with an existing tool?

Hello there, lleawe0705.

Currently, there's no specific time frame when will the templates for sales orders and packing slip will be available. Having said that, I advise providing input so that our product engineers might consider including this feature in the future.

I'll guide you on how:

  1. Select the Gear icon and click Feedback.
  2. Next, enter the details of your suggestion of comments.
  3. Then, click Next to submit.

Furthermore, adding a custom template to utilize with these forms is also unavailable. Thus, I recommend searching for a third-party app that can help you with this. To do so, just visit our QuickBooks Apps store.

I also include this helpful resource that you can read in case you want to send your sales forms (like invoices or estimates) to multiple email addresses: Email a sales form or report to multiple email addresses.

I'll be right here in the Community if you have any other concerns managing your sales forms in QuickBooks. Please don't hesitate to leave a reply below. Have a good day ahead.

@lleawe0705-aspen

No Sales Order feature in QB Online. Consider having a 3rd party inventory management app or manufacturing app to integrate with QBO.

I can't be the first one asking for this.

I want to email a packing slip I forgot to include. I've searched and there is no easy way to do this. I need to preview the packing slip, then screen capture and then attach to an email. And of course the quality at the other end when they print it out, is terrible. Why do you not have this feature?

Or did I miss the really easy way to do this and I'm just challenged in finding it?

You haven't missed any steps in generating a packing slip, @danallan. I'll share additional details about this and the steps you can use in the meantime.

The option to email it in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) is currently unavailable. This is included when delivering physical orders so you can only print it in the program.

As a workaround, you can create a new template for the invoice and modify it to match the packing slip format. You can use it whenever you want to email a packing slip but be sure to switch back to the original invoice template once done. I'll guide you on how:

  1. Generate a packing slip first to use as a reference (you can screen capture it or use the one you have printed).
  2. Next, select the Lists menu and choose Templates.
  3. In the Templates drop-down, select New and choose Invoices. Then, click OK.
  4. Click the Manage Template option and enter the name in the Template Name field (example: For Packing Slip). Select OK.
  5. After that, change the Default Title in the Header tab to Packing Slip.
  6. Then, select the Additional Customization button and go to the Columns tab.
  7. From there, check the boxes for ItemDescriptionQuantity, and Amount. Then, OK.
  8. After that, click the Layout Designer option to adjust the boxes for each field to match your packing slip format. To do so, simply drag the boxes.
  9. When done, click OK thrice to save the modification.

Once done, open the invoice (where you'll generate a packing slip) and replace the template with the one you created earlier. Refer to these steps:

  1. Select the Customers menu and choose Customer Center.
  2. From there, locate the name of the customer where the invoice is linked and click it.
  3. Next, in the Transactions tab, double-click the invoice you want to generate a packing slip.
  4. Then, in the Template field, choose the packing slip template created earlier.
  5. You can preview it by clicking the Print drop-down arrow and choosing Preview.
  6. When ready, select the Email option to send it. Just choose Invoice and make sure that the email addresses (for your company and customer) are correct.
  7. Select OK and follow the on-screen transaction to proceed.

When done, switch to the correct invoice template to make sure the columns and other details will show again.

Moreover, I also recommend sending feedback to request the addition of this feature in the future. Here's how:

  1. Click the Help menu and choose to Send Feedback Online.
  2. Select Product Suggestion.
  3. Add the details of your suggestion in the box dedicated to it and select Send Feedback when done.
  4. Other fields are optional so you don't need to add information there.

For future reference, you might want to use the Sales Order Fulfillment Worksheet to help you easily track the status of your sales orders.

If you have additional concerns managing your forms, please don't hesitate to add a reply below. I'll circle back to provide help. Have a good one and stay safe.
