I would like to copy the Chart of Accounts from one company in QBO to another company in QBO. Can this be done?

I don't have the original file used to upload. Can I somehow download the existing Chart of Accounts in QBO and then upload it to the new company?

Hello there, fmitchell.

When importing your Chart of Accounts to another company file, you'll need to use a spreadsheet in Excel or a CSV file. First, let's export your lists by following these steps:

  1. Log in to the account that has your account lists.
  2. Go to Reports on the left panel.
  3. Search for Account List.
  4. Export the report.

Once done, follow the sample format below:

Then, upload the spreadsheet to another company file you have. Here's how:

  1. Log in to QuickBooks Online.
  2. Go to the Gear icon.
  3. Click Import data under Tools.
  4. Select Chart of Accounts.
  5. Browse and choose the file. Then select Open.
  6. Select Next.
