In Quick Books Self Employed, I would like to change the Invoice Paid Date. Is this possible?

Welcome to the Community, @sangeetha-softai.

Let me ease your confusion about changing the date of a paid invoice.

Once you mark an invoice as paid in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), it'll default to today's date. Please know that QBSE only offers a simplified invoicing feature. Thus, the ability to modify invoice payments, such as the date, isn't available.

Just in case you need help categorizing your transactions in the future, you can check out this article for more guidance: Categorize transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Please know that I'm just a reply away if you need any further assistance managing your invoices in QBSE. Have a good one!

Thank you for clarifying Mark!

This is really a very basic feature that Quick Books should provide. Disappointed in QBSE.

Thank you for clarifying Mark!

This is such a basic function, very disappointed QBSE does not support associated invoices with the correct payment date.

What version of Quick Books online allows you to change the invoice paid date?

This can severely affect both quarterly tax estimates and tax returns.

This is such a simple feature. Please advise.

Not having this simple feature (changing a date) has severe tax implications.

This is quite disappointing that this feature hasn't been implemented yet.

Thank you for joining the thread. Let me clear things up for you, @q88.

You have the option to change the date on the Receive payment transaction in any version of QuickBooks Online (QBO). You need to open it and change the date on the Payment date box. The previous user was referring to QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), which is different.

If you're in a situation where your customers pay you beforehand, follow this article for the steps: Record a retainer or deposit

Tag me in a comment below if you have other questions about invoices in QBO. I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Enjoy the rest of the day!

@Ryan_M - Hey thanks for your prompt response.

I am trying to figure how to change the invoice paid date for Quick Books Self Employed.

I do not receive payments directly through Quick Books Self Employed,

What I've found is that, if you mark the payment as Paid, it sets today's date and there is no ability to change this date.

There is no JavaScript data picker that allows you to select a date in the past, which is extremely unfortunate as Quick Books calculates quarterly taxes based on the payment date.

More importantly, if you're out on vacation and get paid on 12/30/2021 but are unable to login until January 1st, 2022 or thereafter, you've lost the ability for this payment information to reflect accurately on your year-end taxes.

Allow me to join this thread and share how invoices work in QuickBooks Self-Employed, q88.

The invoice payment date from the Invoices page doesn't affect your estimated taxes. It's the payment date on the Transactions page that you need to check if it's accurate.

Whether the invoice is tag as paid or not, QuickBooks will only calculate taxes on your income and expenses posted on the Transactions page. Learn more about this through this guide: QuickBooks Self-Employed Overview.

In addition to this, there are two options on how to record the invoice payment. You can either manually enter it or connect your bank account to download transactions automatically.
