Question

Invoices Missing after update

I have my old computer that was running QBK 15 . I can see all the invoices and transactions. On the new computer we install QKB 21. When i first open the file it will tell me that it will need to be updates. After a few minutes the file opens with no issues. However when i press in invoices I cant see any of them. I can see a new one I just created but none of the old ones. Do I have to do anything special to rebuild them or something? 

 

I tried rebuilding the db, but got no errors found. 

I tried using QKB tool hub and also no errors found. 

 

What am I missing?

Let me share some information about missing invoices and ensure you can see them on your new computer, @Virgiltu.

 

You've mentioned that you can see the invoices on your old computer. If these transactions are not showing in the new device, it could be that QuickBooks Desktop 2021 isn't compatible with your second computer. To verify, let's check this article: System requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2021. 

 

Then, we can use your backup copy to restore your accounting data. This will allows you to go back to one of your save points if you ever run into problems.

 

In case it is saved on an external device like a USB or a hosting service like Box, you'll need to move it to your local hard drive first. Then follow the steps.

 

  1. In QuickBooks, choose the File menu and select Open or Restore Company.

  2. Click Restore a backup copy and continue by choosing Next.

  3. Select Local Backup and then Next.
  4. Browse your computer for your backup company file. It should look like this: [Your company name].qbb.
  5. Select a folder to decide where to save your restored company file. Then click Open.

  6. When you're ready, choose Save.

I think i figured out what i was doing wrong. Based on your explanation I have to back up from the old 15 version and than restore on the new 21 version.

 

I have my company on an external drive. So I just moved the drive and opened the file on 21, causing 21 to try and update. It did update but it was missing the invoices. 

 

If this is true, i will have to restore my old computer and than do the backup before trying to reopen it on 21. 

 

Thank you for checking on me. i will try this week. 

 

BTW i did do the repair and rebuild but still no invoices. If I create a new one I can see it but nothing before the update.
