Quickbooks desktop premier edition 2020

Need a list of invoices with invoice date and amount for a time period.  I tried following another thread by selecting transaction type etc., but dates are all wrong and missing invoices.  All wasn't showing invoices entered on 4/1 even though I selected through 4/4.  Why is it so difficult to get a list of invoices?

I’m here to walk you through in finding the list of your invoices in QuickBooks Desktop, @melissa321.

Yes, BRC is right. We can generate the Transaction List by Customer report and filter the transaction type to show just your invoices.

Here’s how:

  1. On the Reports menu, select Customer & Receivables, then click on Transaction List by Customer.
  2. Click on the Customize Report button on the report's page.
  3. From the Modify Report window, click Display and under Columns, tick which ones you’d like to appear in the report.
  4. Go to the Filter column, then search for Transaction Type and select Invoice.
  5. On the Current Filter Choices, click Detail Level and select Summary only.
  6. Click Paid Status, choose between:
  • Open – unpaid invoices
  • Closed – paid invoices
  • Either – paid and unpaid invoices

It isn't usually difficult. At least it shouldn't be:

Start with a transaction detail report (Reports | Custom | Transaction Detail.)

- Filter it for:

- TransactionType = Invoice

- Detail Level = Summary only

- Date = whatever date range you want

That should do it.

Thanks, but I'm missing invoices still and the dates are not the invoice dates.  I think it is giving me payment details and not original invoice amount?

I can't find "detail - summary only"?  I don't see any filters that might be limiting search but it is giving me only paid invoices.

Still plugging away and think I figured out my error.  I was selecting cash basis and it was giving me paid invoices so I selected accrual instead and it gives me the correct list.  I just wanted a list of invoices so I didn't think the cash vs accrual would make a difference but the way the report is created apparently it does.
