Is it possible to include the total estimate amt, % complete, prior billed, total billed and current billed on a progress billing invoice in QBO? Custom template?

Hello there, dawnjohnson.

The option to have the details on the invoice template is unavailable. We can use the Notes field of the invoice to enter these information after converting an estimate to an invoice.

You can also use the Estimates & Progress Invoicing Summary by Customer report for you reference when entering the information. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Type the report I mentioned above.
  3. Click the Customize button to add and remove displays
  4. Select Run report

I'll surely send this feedback to our engineer so they can add options to for the details you need when using progress invoicing. Let me know if you need more help!

Same issue.  We switched from Quickbooks Desktop to Quickbooks Online and are shocked that this feature is not included.  This is a core invoicing necessity for service-based businesses that bill estimates over several months or years.  Clients want to see the overall picture, not just the current amount being invoiced.  Progress invoicing works fine in Quickbooks Desktop.  Please consider including this feature in QBO and notify us as soon as it is available.  Our company is considering leaving the QBO platform due to the poor progress invoicing and customer statements.

I know how imperative it is to have the invoice details added, @McCalf.

I'll take note of your product feedback and submit it to our engineers. They can consider this option added in the future update.

Meanwhile you can check our QuickBooks Online blog to stay updated on the latest news about the program. Here's the link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/blog/

I have some information that I want to share about alternative solutions with progress invoicing. This will guide you on how you can achieve your goal with such, DawnJohnson.

With progress invoicing, customers don't have to come up with the full project cost upfront. Plus, customers are assured that work will continue on the project because your business won't be able to take their deposit and leave without completing the job.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), this lets you split and estimate as many invoices as you need. Thus, you can invoice customers for partial payments instead of asking for full payment at the beginning.

If you want an alternative solution for invoicing that will provide information such as the total amount of estimate, the percentage when it's completed, prior billed, total and current bill, this is still unavailable. Although, you'll have the option to run different reports that will provide the information you need. Then, export them so it's easier for you to consolidate reports through Excel files.

Beyond than that, you can send feedback to let our product team know how this feature is useful for your business. To do so, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Select the Gear icon at the top, then Feedback.
  2. Enter your comments or product suggestions. Then select Next to submit feedback.

Generally, your valuable feedback goes to our Product Development team to help improve your experience in QBO. You'll want to track feature requests through the QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website.

There are different ways how you can customize reports. This is to ensure that you'll get the accurate data you need. To learn more, read this article for more information: Customize Reports In QuickBooks Online.

Please get back to us if you need further assistance with invoicing. We're here to cover all you needs.

Unfortunately, I have sent feedback many times over the last four years regarding this topic and have had zero success.  I want my invoice to look like this invoice that is available on another accounting software program (see attachement).  It's frustrating that all of this information is available on the QBO estimate but to date cannot be incorporated into the invoice.  The QBO progress invoicing is really a joke~ Even the Estimate Summary that is available on the bottom of the progress invoices is random.  Invoices are in a scrambled order and cannot be sorted in numerical order.  And what about if I have a reimbursable to bill to my client that is not included in the estimate?  The summary makes it look like I've gone over budget.

I'm sorry to vent.  I'm just tired of trying to work around a solution with no success other than to create spreadsheet attachments to supplement the poorly-executed QBO invoices.  It's a lot of work~

Same.  We have sent feedback multiple times since switching from Quickbooks Desktop to Quickbooks Online in 2019.  We have yet to see any of our suggestions implemented or even receive a reply from customer service.  In fact, I cannot think of a single software improvement that has been implemented in the 4 years that we have been using the software.  As far as I can tell, there has been absolutely no investment in the functionality or interface of QBO.  When we used the Desktop version, incremental updates were needed to justify the upgrade costs to purchase new releases.  I guess intuit Intuit is satisfied collecting monthly subscription fees on software that has not been upgraded in half a decade.
