Is there a receipt scanning app that works with Quickbooks Online for non-profits?

Congrats on making your first post here in the Community. I appreciate you coming here with your question about receipt scanning. 

You can use our QuickBooks Online app to scan receipts and then you can categorize and the add the information need through your account in a web browser. 

If this wouldn't work for your business, then I recommend looking into a third party app.

Thanks so much for your response.  We are currently looking for a third-party app that will work for us to be able to note on the scan what account and class each receipt is for.

The problem with your app is that you need to give the user access to the financial data in Quickbooks in order for it to work.  We have employees that we want to be able to submit receipts from their phone, but not have access to financials.  Is this going to be an option in the future?

I can see how the benefit of being able to let employees submit receipts through their phone but won't able to access your financial data would aid you in running your business with QuickBooks Online (QBO) @userterri-erlenbeck. That's why I'm here to share a few details about this.

For the time being, you can manage user roles and limit employee access to specific tasks in QBO. We take customer suggestions as opportunities to improve the various features of our products. Therefore, I would encourage you to send suggestions or product recommendations.

Your valuable feedback will be forwarded and reviewed by our Product Development team to help improve your experience while using the program. Here's how:

1. Select Feedback.
2. Type in your recommendation in the Share your feedback field.
3. Click Next.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

Is there a user role I can use so my employees can only scan their receipts and categorize them with a project name without seeing financial data?

I can guide you through setting up a user role in QuickBooks Online (QBO) that can scan receipts and categorize them by project name without accessing financial data, @KW1214.

You can set up your employees with a standard limited role in QuickBooks. This allows you to select the access rights for the user, including limited access to customers and vendors. When assigning the standard user role, make sure to choose the appropriate access rights for each employee.

To set up a standard user, follow the steps below:

1. Go to the Gear Icon, and select manage users.
2. Under Users, click Add User.
3. And under Roles, choose Standard limited customers and vendors. Then Send an invitation.
