Is there a way to hide all of the past entries for "closed" years?

Hi there, @carlos4.

I have just the steps you'll need to hide entries for any years that you've already closed. QuickBooks Online offers a plethora of awesome Filter tools that allow you to narrow sets of information in many different ways. I'll guide you through doing this below:

Filtering a List in QuickBooks Online

  1. Begin by navigating to the entry list that you need to filter. In the example video below, I filter the list of all Customer Invoices.
  2. Search for the Filter ▼ menu and click it. On certain screens, this is represented by a Funnel icon.
  3. In the Date menu, select either This year or This year-to-date and click Apply.

We offer additional information on this in our guide on filtering or searching for transactions in QuickBooks Online. I've included a brief video demonstration below:

With these steps, you can hide all of the past entries for closed years and analyze your data much more efficiently. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me here if there's anything else you need, I'm always around to lend a hand. Thanks for coming to the Community and take care.

MichaelDL,

I was hoping more for a default solution.  I had figure that out in the past, but my main issue is my primary check register.  Every time I'm using it, it shows all transactions since day 1 of my business, I would like a default that every time I login, it just shows open books, i.e., it automatical hides all transactions prior to 2018 (because all books are closed through Dec 2017)

I have same issue.  Why does QBO continue to expect clients to work-around or resolve these issues for basic functionality of processing accounting.

It's as if we are all beta-testers of a half baked FREE app created by arrogant drunks and doing all their troubleshooting for them while existing in incoherent state of frustration trying to accomplish basic tasks.  Oh yeah, and "community" to self-service based on "answers" from other users who may/may not be correct

Shame on you intuit.  Years ago you were cool. Now you are greedy, incoherent and despised by CPAs, bookkeepers all across the globe for your trainwrecks called "quickbooks"   More like slow, inept books

I often refer to QBO as the app of a thousand clicks and scrolls to access even basic info.
