Is there any way, when importing products to QBO, to include the class and/or category?

It's driving me up the wall having to manually update the class for every single Product. It helps that I can batch update category, but would be better to be able to import. Also, why is class not an option in the Prods & Svcs List?

No there is not

some have had success, entering category:item name, the colon separating the category from the item name, but others have said it failed - might be operator error, or might be QBO

Thanks

It's very disappointing

I've tried several import apps and they don't support those fields either

I can see how useful this is for you, accounts11.

I'll make sure to pass this along to our product engineers. It would also help if you can submit a suggestion from your QuickBooks account. You can send one by clicking on the Gear icon and choosing Feedback. Then, enter your request about importing products and services with the class or category field.

I know this is an old post but thought of sharing my findings here so that if others stumble upon this in future, my answer may be of help to them. :)

With Zed Axis's latest ver 15 Importer, you can actually update the Product Category during the Import process thru the FullyQualifiedName field which basically consists of [Product Categories:Item Name].

The product categories can be multi-level with each level separated by semi-colon.

CLASS is still not doable. :(

I just figured this out and it might be useful to you.

When using excel csv, the column "Product/Service Name" will have to following format:

"Category: Subcategory: ProductName"

*remove the quotation mark "" when doing*

Colon symbol followed by a whitespace works for me. Only "ProductName" will count toward the 100 character limit for this variable.

Share any tips you have for all of us to improve :)
