Journal entry to separate customer expenses

I am using a journal entry to divide a subcontractors charges among various customers. I can select the customer name on each journal line however only the very top line is carrying over to the customer account. Any idea why each line is not showing up in customer accounts?

Yes, this is because the first row of the Journal is special, just like the first row of other transactions like checks and invoices is special. At some level the entire transaction is associated with the name on the first row (even though that makes little sense for Journals).

Just as a check detail row that uses a customer:job doesn't appear in the customer center, neither will the detail rows of a Journal.

Still, the detail rows may appear in job costing reports, just like the detail rows of a check do.  Have you checked to see if that's the case?
