I'm delighted to have you here today, @Dr_Kinu. Please know that I appreciate you for reaching out to us here in the Community space. I know it's much easier and a time-saver to classify transactions in batches. I'll share information about this.
Before we proceed, you mentioned above that you've tried to change it, but it will not let you continue. That said, may I know if you have received errors when attempting to change an account? This additional information will help us offer a precise solution to your issue. Providing more details will enable me to investigate the root cause of this issue. Additionally, if you could provide a screenshot, it would greatly aid in our understanding of the situation.
If you have an accountant with a QuickBooks Desktop Accountant, Enterprise, or Accountant Enterprise, you can request to use the Reclassify Transactions tool to batch-move the vehicle to the correct asset account. They can reclassify transactions one by one or all at once. If none, you must open that transaction linked to the vehicle and manually change the account to a fixed asset. The non-accountant version doesn't have this option, but a user can open each transaction to assign a class. You may find a Poradvisor near you.
Here's how:
- From the Accountant menu, go to the Client Data Review.
- Select the Client Data Review.
- In the Review Date Range section, choose the date range of transactions you want to review.
- In the Review Basis section, pick Accrual or Cash.
- Click on Modify Review.
- In the Account Balances section, find Reclassify Transactions. Choose the Status drop-down and then set it to In Progress.
- Pick Close
