matching transactions

Hello - first post here. I'm using QB Online and need help matching ACH deposits to invoices generated.

I've had many phone calls with QB help and we're all stumped...

My situation is that I generate multiple invoices to multiple clients, all for the same $ amount. When I access my banking info through QB Online, ACH deposits are downloaded but they are not linked to any specific invoice. QB Online narrows it down to, say one of seven possibilities and allows me to choose which one to assign. The potential for getting it wrong is too great and I'm looking for a way that will be more precise than that.

Anyone have any thoughts / suggestions / solutions?

Thanks,

Bill

Not sure what the discussion you had with QBs was, but let me ask a question....

Are you trying to MATCH an entry or use the Bank Feed to ENTER payments?  If you're using the Bank Feed to make the entries for you, that's the issue.  I'm not sure all the Support people get it either that the BF is not intended to make entries, it is intended to MATCH to entries you have already made into the Register.

Process would be when you receive notice from your client they paid, or you see it is sitting in the Bank, you would into Receive Payments or Vendor Center and show the payment for the Invoices being paid by ACH.  Once those payments are in the Checking Register you would run the Bank Feed and you can match the downloaded Payments to what is in the Register.

QBs is great at simplifying a LOT of tasks, but make entries it has no clue about from a BF into a Registry or marking off a Invoice as Paid is not something it can do.  At least not now.

I am having the same problem in matching Bank Feeds (BF) to QB ACH deposits and support can not help.  I have multiple invoices that are the same amount and the The difficulty created by QB ACH postings is that they do NOT reference the invoice number that the payment was for.  If Merchant Services is going to post Register transaction listed as QuickBooks Payments, and not require a match (like bank feeds do) they should reflect invoice member paid in the transaction posting that was included in the emailed invoice with ACH link.  They should strongly consider this as it could not be that difficult and would save a lot of the frustration I have to deal with in trying to make sure I get BF transactions matched to the correct QB ACH Deposit posted.

This is not what we want you to experience, @mcahoa. I truly empathize with the frustration you've been experiencing due to the lack of invoice references in QB ACH postings.  I understand how hard it can be when you encounter difficulties in properly reconciling your transactions, especially when the necessary information is not readily available. Rest assured, I'm here to assist you and provide guidance.

In QuickBooks Online, it's unavailable to show the reference number associated with the created bank deposit transaction. I can see how convenient it would be if we have this feature in the Bank Feeds as will make save some of our time and help us accurately match transactions. Your feedback regarding the inclusion of invoice numbers in the transaction postings is valuable, and I will make sure to pass it along to the appropriate team.

Also, I'd recommend sending your own feedback to our Product Engineers so they'll know that this is something you need and can consider adding it in future updates. I'd be glad to show you how:
