Missing majority of data in Quickbooks Self Employed

I am a sole proprietor and was behind on entering transactions. When I log into my Quickbooks Self Employed account (understand it is no longer offered), I can only see invoices and all of my transactions and reports from 2022 (when my business began) and 2023 are gone. I had never connected bank accounts; rather I entered all information manually. Is there a way to restore/access the data? I can't believe all of the manually entered and tagged data is simply gone.

Missing majority of data in Quickbooks Self Employed

Thanks for providing thorough details regarding your concerns about your missing data and report history, aquamarine. Let's filter your Transactions and Reports menus to narrow down the results.

The issue could've been due to the date filter not being modified accordingly. Kindly refer to the instructions below to isolate this matter.

To populate your manually entered 2023 data:

  1. Navigate to the Transactions menu.
  2. Ensure that the Type and Account are set to All.
  3. Edit the transaction period and select All or input the Custom date (2023).
  4. Once done, hit Apply.

As for filtering your Reports, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Click the designated dropdown field of the report you want to open.
  3. Choose 2023 from the list or enter a Custom date (applicable depending on the report).
  4. After that, hit View or Download.

If the issue persists, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Self-Employed Support Team. They have the complete tools to check your account and dive into the root cause of this matter.

I'm also attaching this link so you can gather more insights about handling your Schedule C in the platform: Schedule C and expense categories in QuickBooks Solopreneur and QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Missing majority of data in Quickbooks Self Employed

Thank you! When I logged back into my account this morning, the interface looked different than it had when I posted this support question and could not find my data. I'm not sure if there was an internal update to my account but I was able to access my old data using your instructions.

If I were to transition from Quickbooks Self Employed to Solopreneur, would my data transfer over? Thank you

Missing majority of data in Quickbooks Self Employed

It's great to see your back @aquamarinebug.

It's great that you're considering an upgrade from QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) to QuickBooks Solopreneur! I'm here to facilitate a smooth transfer of your data.

During this process, most of your data and subscription details will migrate automatically, simplifying your transition to QuickBooks Solopreneur. Here are the data that will automatically migrate when you switch to QuickBooks Solopreneur:

  • Customers
  • Invoices
  • Trips
  • Product and Services
  • Bank Connections
  • Transactions
  • Receipts

However, be aware that some data, such as Rules and Quarterly Tax Estimates, will be supported for migration in the future. You may choose to wait until these features are updated before switching.

Furthermore, here are some data that can't be switched over:

  • Third-party app integrations such as Etsy, Uber, Amazon
  • Tags
  • Vendors

Please note that before upgrading to QuickBooks Solopreneur, ensure that you download and save your reports and accounting information, as access to your old account will be lost after the upgrade. You may also opt to transition to QuickBooks Solopreneur manually.

For details about the migration process, you can check this article: Switch from QuickBooks Self-Employed to QuickBooks Solopreneur.

Additionally, here is a helpful resource to assist you in filing taxes with QuickBooks Solopreneur: Get ready to file taxes on self-employed income in QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Solopreneur.

Missing majority of data in Quickbooks Self Employed

I have used QuickBooks and TurboTax since 2008 and QuickBooks Self-Employed since 2021. Today I logged in to mark an invoice paid and start my income tax return. NO QBSE DATA PRIOR TO 8/1/2024 IS AVAILABLE, it was there just last week when I created the invoice and updated some mileage information for tax preparation.

Try to contact support and THEY ONLY WORK THE SAME HOURS I AM BUSY RUNNING MY OWN BUSINESS!! Actually they don't even start until 2 hours after I start.

But wait, they offer 24 hour tax support, not helpful if you can't access your tax info.

I completely understand the importance of managing your data for tax preparation and contacting our support team seamlessly, roodavis. I'll provide you with some essential steps you can take to resolve the problem with missing data.

It sounds like you may be experiencing a technical issue with your QuickBooks Self-Employed account. To troubleshoot this, I suggest accessing your account through a private browsing window. Browser-related issues can sometimes prevent web pages from loading correctly.

Here are the keyboard shortcuts:

  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Shift + N

Then, check your data again and ensure that the dates are correctly setup. If it shows, clear the browser's cache. Doing so deletes all the data from your browser and optimizes its performance. You may also use other supported browsers as an alternative.,

Also, to get insights into the available reports in QBSE, go to the Reports tab.

Moreover, please note that our support hours are only available Monday through Friday from 6 AM to 6 PM PT, and on Saturday from 6 AM to 3 PM PT. Make sure to reach out during these times for prompt assistance.

Furthermore, I'll be providing these resources that will assist you in categorizing your transactions and allocating them to the appropriate accounts. These tools are designed to help you organize your finances effectively in preparation for tax filing:

If you have questions about your data or any other inquiries related to QuickBooks, please mention them in your response below. I'm here to lend a hand.

Missing majority of data in Quickbooks Self Employed

Thanks for the effort. But quoting the knowledge base suggestions and inadequate support hours doesn't really help me. Tips on generating reports and checking dates don't help if the data is not there. I have been using the product for almost five years now, but the data that was correct just a few weeks ago, now only shows five months of 2024 and three months of 2025 data. Hopefully I will be able to find some time in my day as an education technology helpdesk administrator to contact their helpdesk tech.
