Is there a field for checks & bill payments to indicate when the item was cleared in a reconciliation?
Just had a four year old check hit the bank that QB Enterprise shows as cleared. Luckily we found it cleared in a timely manner, but what if it hadn't? What if past staffers simply "cleared" it at some point in 2018 though it never had? How could we find the month it was reconciled without opening every previous reconciliation?
Thanks.

QuickBooks does not track the date your transactions cleared. Only if they did or not.
It is quite odd for a bank to honor a 4 year old check. You may be able to ask them to not do that...
IMO reconciling is only user if you balance exactly. Adjustments to make reconciles balance defeat the whole purpose of reconciling. One way to minimize what you are seeing here is to forbid their use and to review the reconciliations each month to ensure they're not used.
Hello, @prc6th.
You can generate and customize your Previous Reconciliation report so you'll be able to view your reconciled transactions in QuickBooks.
Here's how:
You can refer to this article for more detailed steps: View previous bank reconciliation reports.
Let me know if you have other questions about previous bank reconciliation, I'll be right here to help you. Have a great day ahead!
This reply completely ignores my question. COMPLETELY.
Hi prc6th,
At this time, there isn't a report that shows transactions as cleared on a specific period in QuickBooks. You might want to run and customize a QuickReport of the account. I'll guide you how.
You can check out this article to learn more about customizing reports in QuickBooks Desktop.
Let me also share this link about available reports you can run in QuickBooks: Understand reports.

Your first sentence is the answer. Why did you not stop there? I did not ask how to see whether something has cleared.
Corporations are afraid of saying "no" to customers these days. If "no" is the simple answer say it and let us move on.

This might be something for the next update??? Unfortunately I have had several occasions where if i knew the date the check had actually cleared, not just that it had cleared, many hours of research would have been avoided.

I can see how beneficial for you and your company to run a report that shows cleared transactions on a specific period. At this time, you can consider following the workaround shared by my colleagues above.

I know this is an old thread but I went searching today to see if there was a better method of finding which statement periods transactions are cleared to. So far this is the best solution I have found.
Change the cleared transaction amount by .01 . Go to Reports>Banking>Previous Reconciliation Discrepancy Report. Select the reconciled account. The modified transaction will appear on the discrepancy report, below the statement date that it was reconciled with. Remember to change the transaction back to the cleared amount or the reconciliation will be out of balance.
Thanks! That was very helpful!
I think this is now available in QB? The Reconciliation Report records the date that the check cleared in my application, based on the date from the bank...I am trying to find a way to list the date the check was written, in the same reconciliation report. So far, no luck.
Hi there, HollyOsburn.
Thank you for visiting again the QuickBooks Community and I'm glad to know that the Reconciliation report records the check date as to when the entry cleared in your application. I'll ensure to share details on how you can customize the date of the check to see the date created in the recon report.
In QuickBooks Desktop, the option to filter the reconciliation report to list the date of the check as to when it was written is not available. In the meantime, you can export the Reconciliation and Transaction List by Customer reports to Excel. You'll be able to manually customize the reconciliation report from there and use the other one to view the entry's details.
Here's how for Transaction List by Customer:
To see further details, you can open this article: Export reports as Excel workbooks in QuickBooks Desktop. This also provides information on how you can get the latest version of the report from QuickBooks while you're in Excel.
Then, for the Reconciliation report, I've attached a screenshot below for visual reference.
Lastly, you may open this article to see various details on how QuickBooks Desktop provides different reports that cater to your business needs to display data from your company file: Understand reports.
