I work for a non-profit where some departments "sell" goods/services. I'd like to be able to set up these to properly allocate a portion to "Donations" and a portion to "Program Services". How can I do this without having to set up two separate items for 75-100 different items?
Hi Julie.
Thank you for reaching out to us here on the Community page. I can share with you some information about managing items on QuickBooks Desktop.
Splitting an item into two or more types is currently unavailable. At this time, you can track your donation and value received as a separate transaction. To record a donation, you can either create a deposit or sales receipt. While a bill entry for the value received.
On the other hand, if you need to split your items, you may look for a supported third-party application through the apps store. Here's the link: Apps for QuickBooks Desktop.
Here's an article you can read more about managing items in QuickBooks Desktop.

While this option is not yet available, you can send your request to our product developers. They're constantly looking for great ideas from users, like yourself, when deciding how to enhance QuickBooks.
