Open Order Report To Include Line Item (Custom Field)

Hi everyone, I have an issue where on sales orders we have the column 'Line Item' that is a recognized enum field.

 

If I try to create an open sale order report, I can't seem to get that column to show up for that line.

 

It'll do item, item description, revision, quantity, etc but I can't quite get Line Item to show up. Does anyone know how I can check to see if we can enable this?

When generating a report in QuickBooks, it analyzes each individual transaction line, Danny. If a line matches the report criteria, it will be included in the report. Below are some details to help you understand the process better.


Firstly, could you specify which type of sales order report you've generated?


If you run the Open Sales Orders by Customer report, please note that it will not display detailed line items, even though there is a column for them. This is because the report is designed to summarize customer data rather than provide item-specific information.


On the other hand, if you choose to run an Open Sales Orders by Item report, you can tailor it to display the specific line item you created by customizing this report to show columns based on your preferences. Here’s how:
 

1. In the Report window, select Customize Report.

2. In the Modify Report: Open Sales Orders by Item window, search for the line item you created and select it by checking the corresponding checkbox.

3. Click OK to apply the changes.

 

You'll then be able to see the line item in your report, displayed according to your customizations.

After you've customized your report, consider memorizing it. This allows you to save the settings of your customized report so that you can easily access this configuration for future use without needing to go through the customization steps again.

The issue is that the line item for columns doesn't show up despite it being in my sale order

To begin, please note that Custom fields are placed in the Header section of transactions instead of being added as extra columns. Here's an article for more details about using Custom Fields in QuickBooks Desktop: Create and use custom fields in QuickBooks Desktop.

 

Can you tell us if you utilized the Other 1 or Other 2 boxes within the Layout Designer for this purpose? If so, use the Other 1 or Otherwhen customizing the report.
